LSU is ranked for the first time since playing UCLA to start the 2021 season and they now host the #8 ranked Tennessee Volunteers in an 11am matchup (much to our dismay) in a prove-it game for both Brian Kelly and Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel. How could LSU lose this game and how could they upset the undefeated Vols?
Tennessee has the top ranked offense in the country with their quick, high-powered offense led by Hendon Hooker. But LSU is the highest ranked defense they have faced so far this season, so how will Tennessee's offense adjust to LSU's defensive line? Can the Tigers' front four put enough pressure on Hooker, who has yet to throw an interception this season, to force turnovers and mistakes? On the other side of the ball, Brian Kelly has challenged Jayden Daniels to take more risks in the passing game. Is that the key to adding another element to LSU's offense and putting up enough points to beat a Tennessee team averaging 45 points per game? If Tennessee stops the run, as Heupel has alluded to, can LSU win this game through the air?
