Description

Dr Glenn McConell chats with Professor Michael Riddell from York University in Canada who is the number 1 exercise and type 1 diabetes (T1D) researcher in the world.  Michael has T1D as does his son which has greatly motivated him in his research. We discuss a lot of aspects of T1D and exercise including what is T1D, the effect of T1D on exercise metabolism and on health, the beneficial effects of exercise in people with T1D, the importance of continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps, and how some people with T1D are increasingly developing characteristics of type 2 diabetes.
