Description

Dr. Maria Aramburu de la Guardia, MD, MPH, FAAP is the Medical Director for the School Based Health Center at Roosevelt Senior High School in Washington DC which is part of Medstar Georgetown University Hospital Division of Community Pediatrics.
Dr Aramburu is currently a full-time pediatrician and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics for Georgetown Pediatrics in Washington DC serving in clinical, research academic and teaching capacity.
Dr Aramburu has dedicated her years in practice to clinical work and leadership in underserved areas of the District of Columbia for more than 7 years through the programs of the Division of Community Pediatrics at Georgetown Hospital.
Dr. Aramburu has a subspecialty in Community Pediatrics and Child Advocacy and a master’s in public health from the George Washington University Milken School of Public Health, with an emphasis on Global Health, Pediatric Nutrition and Adolescent Health. She completed her General Pediatrics training at Medstar Georgetown in 2012.
She has been distinguished with the Adolescent Medicine Award from the Society of Adolescent Health & Medicine, the physician of the year award for Children’s National DC MAP program and the Top Doctors Washingtonian recognition 2 years in a row.
In her role as Medical Director she has established protocols and partnerships to better serve vulnerable population including immigrant Latinos which occupy 60% of the student population at Roosevelt. Her interests include mental health in teens, trauma informed care, obesity management and motivational interviewing. Her research interests are focused on the effects trauma in immigrant youth.
The goal of her social media platform is to spread evidence-based information in Pediatrics as well as to be partner in health and wellness for parents and caregivers. She shares her experiences as a mom of 2 boys, her parenting journey as well as health topics related to children and teens.
