In our first hour were joined by the Head Coach of the Michigan State Basketball team, Tom Izzo. Huge and Tom discussed the atmosphere of the nation right now following the shooting of Jacob Blake over the weekend. Tom gave us his perspective on what racial injustices have been occurring, but also how we cannot paint everyone with a broad brush. Tom also gave us some insight into what the conversation has been like between him and his team. Huge and Tom both agreed and disagreed on some things but were on the same page that the conversation and actions need to happen before things can really be fixed.
In our second hour we were joined by Tim Staudt to get his thoughts on the likelihood of the Big Ten going back on what they’ve said about a fall season. Some are saying that the season could possibly be moved up to Thanksgiving weekend. Tim and Huge broke down many of the factors that could either lead to this happening or not. We were also joined by Dr. K to get a Covid-19 update with it’s relation to our daily lives and sports.
Today we were joined by the Executive Director of the Michigan High School Athletic Association, Mark Uyl. Since the MHSAA came out with their fall sports guidelines for high schools throughout Michigan, there have been a lot of questions – so we wanted to have Mark on to get some clarity. Huge asked Mark many of the questions and concerns brought to us from parents, coaches, and players. Mark also updated us on some of the things that need to happen in order for a few of those fall sports to start competition. Following Mark, we were joined by Detroit Tigers pitcher Bryan Garcia. We wrapped up the show by talking with Greg Heeres from BHS Insurance.
