Description

We opened up the show today with our conversation with Mark Uyl, the Executive Director of the Michigan High School Athletic Association. Mark and Huge discussed the likelihood of a high school football season. They also talked about how different districts and their high school sports across Michigan are being affected by Covid-19 and how Mark and the MHSAA have different contingency plans in place for any situation. Mark is expecting to announce those plans soon. We were then joined by Jim Comparoni with a quick Spartan update and to also talk about what the vibe has been like for him being a little league coach and how it’s going with his team and how they’re following the right guidelines. Bill also asked the Huge Question of the Day: How many of the young Tigers should join the 30-man roster to play in the shortened 60 game season?
Off the heels of our Huge Question of the Day asking how many of the young Tigers should join the 30-man roster to play in the MLB’s shortened 60 game season. We were joined by Tom Gage to get his thoughts on who should be on that roster…Huge and Tom also discussed the Tigers’ intrasquad game happening tonight. We then wanted to play Huge’s conversation with Spartan Basketball Head Coach Tom Izzo about the recruiting Tom has been doing, wearing a mask, and much more. At the end of the hour we were joined by Evan Woodbery from MLive to talk about the Tigers intrasquad game and to talk about a new Tigers text service that MLive is now offering.
In our final hour Dr. K joined us to talk about the recent Covid-19 numbers connected to sports and the best way to get us back to a somewhat normal life. He and Huge also discussed the best ways to analyze the numbers and what to keep an eye out for. Dr. K also gave us his thoughts on the return of sports and just how safe he feels it is to play them again for kids, high schools, colleges, and the pros. At the end of the show we were were joined by LPGA golfer Maria Fassi who took part in the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational last year. She shared her experiences from the event and what that was like for her. Maria is also a Dow Ambassador which focuses on the inclusion of all people on and off the course.
