Description

As schooling, sports, and our daily lives have been up in the air and seemingly placed on hold, Huge is discussing the comeback of sports with our Insiders and listeners today. The return of play obviously rests on how safely things can be done to ensure the safety of players when it comes to high school and college sports. In our first hour we were joined Chris Balas as news broke today that the only potential fans in the stands this fall will only be season ticket holders. Huge and Chris also discussed the likelihood of players opting out of the season and so much more. Huge also asked the audience how comfortable they feel sending their kids back to school and back to fall sports.
In our second hour we were joined by Kyle Austin to take a look at Izzo and his Spartan Basketball team. Some are saying that Xavier Tillman may retract his choice to go into the NBA and could potentially come back to play under Izzo next season. Kyle also updated us on some other players from the MSU roster who are thinking about declaring for the NBA. Huge and Kyle talked about who they think is ready for that, and who they think might need some more time as a Spartan. We then moved on to talk with Matt Wenzel about Spartan Football under Mel Tucker and what’s been happening as far as recruits go, as well as the likelihood of that season even happening. Huge wrapped up this hour by talking about the Lions and Stafford and the need for a playoff win.
In our final hour were joined by Mark Uyl, the Executive Director of the Michigan High School Athletic Association. Mark called into the show to get us up to speed on some of the decisions he and his team have discussed about fall sports over the past few weeks as the Covid-19 pandemic is ever-changing. Mark and Huge discussed the likelihood of a high school football season. They also talked about how different districts and their high school sports across Michigan are being affected by Covid-19 and how Mark and the MHSAA have different contingency plans in place for any situation. Mark is expecting to announce those plans soon.At the end of the show we were joined by Cydney Clanton & Jasmine Suwannapura who were the two winners of the Dow GLBI from last year. Huge and the ladies discussed what it was like for them winning the event last year, as well as what they’re doing this year in lieu of the event being canceled due to the pandemic.
