Description
Huge opened up the show today by discussing some of the flack that the MHSAA has been receiving since they released their most recent fall sports guidelines. He really wanted to stress that Mark and his team have been doing everything in their power to do what’s right – while still following Governor Whitmer’s executive orders. Moving away from this, we were joined by Rod Beard to talk about the Lottery from last night and how the Pistons will have the 7th overall pick in the Draft. We then went on to talk about the Detroit Lions and training camp with Tim Twentyman. He gave us his thoughts on how the team is doing, gave an injury update, and much more. Huge also asked the question to the audience - Do you think Governor Whitmer should allow the MHSAA to move forward with allowing boy’s soccer, girl’s volleyball, and girl’s swimming and diving this fall?
Today Huge asked the question to the audience whether or not they think Governor Whitmer should allow the MHSAA to move forward with allowing boy’s soccer, girl’s volleyball, and girl’s swimming and diving this fall. We were joined by Dr. K from Metro Health/University of Michigan Health to get his medical opinion on whether it seems safe for the MHSAA to move forward or not. Dr. K and Huge also took a look at the different levels of safety throughout youth, club, high school, college and national sports. We then moved on to get a Covid update as far as MSU athletics go with our friend Matt Charboneau. He and Huge discussed the general thoughts of parents, players, and more.
Yesterday we were joined by the Executive Director of the Michigan High School Athletic Association, Mark Uyl. So, we wanted to air it again being that it’s still very relevant. Mark and Huge went through the new guidelines for all high school sports this fall in Michigan. There's a lot of updated information regarding travel sports, the different regions throughout the state, practices, and much more. We were also joined by Grand Valley State’s Head Football Coach Matt Mitchell. Since the GLIAC cancelled all fall sports due to Covid, we got Matt’s thoughts on how everything played out and how his staff and team have been handling it. Matt also told us how he felt about the season moving to the spring, and why he isn’t in favor of it.
