In our first hour, we were joined by Mark Uyl, the Executive Director of the Michigan High School Athletic Association. On Monday, Governor Whitmer announced that she would be extending our “pause” another 12 days. This ultimately meant that the Mark and his team at the MHSAA could not follow through with their plan of getting High School athletes back to play as soon as they’d hoped. Mark and his team have provided the data showing us that it’s safe for these athletes to be playing their Fall Championships/restarting Winter sports at this time. We were also joined by Chris Balas in our first hour to talk about the cancelation of the Michigan/Ohio State game originally scheduled for Saturday.
In our second hour we wanted to carry on the conversation regarding U-M/OSU being cancelled for this weekend. We got the thoughts of Tim May out of Ohio regarding all of the cases running rampant throughout UM and OSU, what this means for both teams, and much more. We were then joined by Mike O’Hara to talk about that Detroit Lions win over the Bears on Sunday. We took your comments, texts, and calls regarding college football and the NFL throughout the entirety of the show today.
Dr. K from Metro Health joined us today to discuss the relationship between Covid-19, sports and our daily lives. With numbers rising in regards to Covid-19 cases we wanted to get an update from Dr. K on the numbers at this point in time. Dr. K and Huge also talked about how sports are being affected as far as positive cases go - but also about how few critical cases there have been in the sports world. This and more with Dr. K! We wrapped up the show with our friend Tim McCullough from the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mt. Pleasant.
