Description
How do you keep focused as an artist? We’ve all wasted time scrolling our phone or putting off one piece of work for another. This week on Thriving Women Artists, Ping, Sarah, and Dorien will be sharing their tips on staying focused, avoiding distractions, and being accountable.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Have someone to make you feel accountable for being distracted and wasting your work time. Shared work spaces or collaborative working can help with this.
Be realistic when setting goals and planning your time. If your goals are not realistic then you won’t get things done and will have that negative feeling of not completing a task. Plan around your peak creative times.
Working on a single task can be better than multitasking. If you;re working on multiple things at once you’re more likely to make mistakes and your focus is going to be split. It takes discipline to just work on one thing while you know in the back of your mind that you have other things to do.
Your desk space should be a place for work, if you’re sitting there playing games on your phone or other things, then your brain will not associate your desk with work.
Take a break throughout the day, away from your desk. Go out for a little walk and some fresh air. We can’t focus for 8 hours in a row.
BEST MOMENTS
‘I try not to overwhelm myself’
‘Finishing your tasks will make you feel motivated’
‘I get ahead of myself and want to start with the finished project’
