Description

Your artistic theme is often hidden from you and you have to reflect to discover what is hidden in your work. This week on Thriving Women Artists, Ping, Sarah and Dorien will be talking about their hidden themes in their art, how you can find your hidden themes, and how you can use that information to discover even more about yourself.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

Sometimes you’re not even aware that you have a theme when you’ve only just started making art. It’s usually when you look back that you see it.
It’s important to explore and let your theme shine through without pressure. Working to a strict brief can be too restrictive and you won’t discover anything about your theme.
Doing prompts can help you find your theme by being creative.
The more you know yourself the more you will know your hidden theme. The reverse is also true, the more you know the hidden theme the more you know yourself.
Go back to the things you enjoy and start translating those things or the feelings they evoke into your work.
You’re never finished with your hidden theme and it’s not just one theme,

BEST MOMENTS
‘It’s not an accident, it’s your heart and soul speaking’
‘All our work is rooted in our experiences’
‘You know yourself which work you are really proud of’
