Description

What is creativity, why is it important to cultivate creativity, and how do you do that? These are just a few of the questions Sarah, Ping, and Dorien will be answering on this week’s episode of Thriving Women Artists. They also share their stories of trying new things to add that spark of creativity to their work.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

Creativity is about more than just making something. You can be creative in so many ways, such as finding solutions from a different perspective.
Creativity is also about playfulness, letting go, using your imagination and being curious.
Being scared to fail is the opposite of being creative. It’s not about the outcome, it’s about the process.
Routines are very valuable but some of the best creativity can come outside of our routines.
While Dorien’s right shoulder was injured she found new ways of being creative using her left hand to paint. She used her situation to her advantage.
Sarah is blocking an entire day to try something new, like visiting new places and taking part in courses.
If you have 5 minutes you can do something creative, it doesn't have to be an entire day. Even if that’s just listening to music and getting lost in it.

BEST MOMENTS
‘If you practice being creative, you get better at it’
‘I wish I had 48 hours a day’
‘Let the paint guide me, let the source guide me’
‘Part of cultivating creativity is like keeping the cookie jar full’
