Description
Big national publications are dropping their college football preseason rankings this week. Are the Miami Hurricanes being fairly predicted by CBS Sports and Sports Illustrated? CBS ranks all 131 FBS teams and have the Hurricanes at number 19, up 26 spots from their postseason list after 2021. Sports Illustrated ranks the Hurricanes 17th on their preseason top 25. Both sites credit Miami’s coaching change from Manny Diaz to Mario Cristobal and high expectations for starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke as to why they rank Miami in the top 20.
Host Alex Donno breaks down Miami’s expectations and explains why these rankings are fair. The Canes are on the right track but have plenty to prove on the field. Donno explains why Miami’s receiving corps, while considered a question mark, could actually become one of the strengths of the team this season. There’s a lot to be excited about from young receivers like Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George and Keyshawn Smith, and plenty to look forward to with a veteran transfer like Frank Ladson.
Donno shares the latest he’s hearing in recruiting for players like 3-star center Connor Lew, 4-star receiver William Fowles, and 5-star edge rusher Samuel M’Pemba. Lew and Fowles will both be announcing on Friday and there are mixed reports on both, even though Miami is considered the favorite. On M’Pemba, he recently had a crystal ball to Georgia drop by 247’s Steve Wiltfong.
