Description
Mario Cristobal does not consider the turnover chain to be part of Miami Hurricanes tradition, so they will be retiring it after five seasons. The chain was introduced during an incredible 2017 season, where the Hurricanes forced a nation leading 31 turnovers and won 10 games. Since then, results have been mixed and the chain has lost some of its mojo. For Cristobal, the emphasis will be on hard work and earning victories. He doesn’t want to take any shortcuts through props, hashtags and slogans.
Host Alex Donno breaks down the demise of the turnover chain and completely agrees with coach Cristobal’s reasoning. The turnover chain was a nice boost in recruiting, but Miami’s top coaching staff no longer needs smoke and mirrors to land 4 and 5-star players. Donno discusses how Miami is battling with Nick Saban and Alabama for the verbal commitment of 4-star offensive tackle Olaus Alinen, who will announce his decision on Friday. Early momentum favored Miami, but the Tide has turned in Alabama’s favor.
Plus, Donno answers listener questions sent to @LockedOnCanes on twitter about the impact of Miami’s 2022 transfer players and expectations for who the top wide receiver will be next season. And is Miami in danger of another upset loss to FSU?
