Description
Mike Farrell of MikeFarrellSports.com listed the Miami Hurricanes as one of 15 big college football programs that "aren't scary anymore." The list also includes Florida State, Florida, USC, Tennessee, Auburn, Penn State and Texas, among others. Bleacher Report considers Miami one of 7 major programs "on the rise" again after a recent lack of success.
Host Alex Donno breaks down these assessments and agrees that it's totally fair to say Miami "isn't scary anymore." The program has been average or worse for the better part of the past 18 years. However, the moves and investments that Miami has made in coaches like Mario Cristobal, Josh Gattis, Charlie Strong, Jason Taylor etc, show that Miami is on track to become "scary" again real soon. Donno thinks USC will be the other program on the list to rise most quickly.
Donno breaks down the incoming WR transfer of Colbie Young. He's a very tall 6-4 and caught 9 touchdowns in junior college last season. He has 3 years of eligibility left. Even though he hasn't been written about too much and doesn't have star rankings, he was sought after by other major programs like Tennessee, Florida State and Pittsburgh. With his height, Young can be a major factor in the red zone. Donno recaps the comments made by 4-star edge rusher Jayden Wayne after a great official visit. Donno also answers questions from Locked On Canes listeners about quarterback recruiting and on whether Miami football really needs their own stadium.
