Thank you for joining us for another episode of the Low Carb MD Podcast. Dr Pran Yoganathan is a Gastroenterologist and Gastrointestinal endoscopist based in Sydney. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physician (FRACP) and a member of Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA). He has accredited expertise in Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Colonoscopy as certified by the Conjoint Committee for the recognition of training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr Yoganathan has a strong interest in the field of human nutrition. He practices an approach to healthcare that assesses the lifestyle of the patient to see how it impacts on their gastrointestinal and metabolic health. Dr Yoganathan believes that the current day nutritional guidelines may not be based on perfect evidence and he passionately strives to provide the most up to date literature in healthcare and science to provide “Evidence-Based Medicine”. In this conversation, Drs. Brian, Tro, and Pran discuss the relationship between Irritable Bowl Syndrome and diet, why satiety is an important part of the metabolic health and IBS conversation, non-digestible carbohydrate fermentation in the the large bowel, the association between metal health and gut health, the effects of a fecal transplant procedure, the dangers of pesticides in so many foods and their effect on the gut microbiome, the problem with diet sodas and emulsifiers, the many factors of modern life contributing to an obesogenic environment, why the move to pant based eating on a large scale is not the sustainable move it is made out to be, why fatty liver disease is one of the easiest, fastest diseases to reverse, the incredible value of the low-carb community and network of medical practitioners.
