Description
In this podcast, we’re going to talk about absent-mindedness and how to improve absent-mindedness.
Absent-mindedness is basically a lack of awareness. If you’re absent-minded, you might be forgetful and easily distracted. It could be happening because your brain cells are tired and starving for energy.
Your neurons are normally dependent on glucose or lactate for fuel. But, when you consume those fuels, they have a side-effect. They can potentially cause cognitive dysfunction and absent-mindedness.
But, your body can use another type of fuel called ketones. Ketones suppress glucose utilization. If there are ketones and glucose in your blood, your brain will use ketones instead of glucose.
A simple solution to bypass a damaged nerve cell is to start increasing ketones. Ketones can feed the neurons what they need to function. They also affect the potassium channels, which can increase the communication between neurons.
You can generate ketones by lowering your carbohydrates below 50g. You also may need to increase the time you fast. You would want to do at least 18 hours of fasting with a 6-hour eating window. You may also want to add exogenous ketones. A great form of exogenous ketones is MCT oil.
How to overcome absent-mindedness:
1. Sleep
2. Stop thinking so much
3. Support your gut microbiome
4. Ketones
