Today we’re going to talk about mucus and how amazing mucus really is. Your mucus is actually a very important part of your body.
The body makes between 1 and 1.5 liters of mucus per day. The mucus sits on mucus membranes covering the inside of your body. The mucus membrane is a part of the immune system. Friendly bacteria live in the mucus, and immune cells live in the mucus.
The mucus membrane and the mucus on top of it line the:
• Sinuses
• Mouth
• Throat
• Lungs
• Stomach
• Intestines
• Kidneys
• Urogenital
What does mucus do?
• It acts as a lubricant
• It’s antimicrobial
• It has good bacteria
