Dr. Berg explains mineral fluctuation when fasting. There’s always a concern if you would deplete the mineral reserves when doing fasting especially if you’re not taking electrolytes and other trace minerals.
On an average of 72 hour fast:
Sodium: Before (138) and After (136)
Potassium: Before (4.6) and After (4.3)
Magnesium: Before (1.7) and After (1.6)
Calcium: Before (10.3) and After (9.1)
Phosphorus: Before (3.6) and After (3.0)
Zinc: Before (104) and After (117) Increased 3.5x
The body releases from the reserve a lot of zinc because the body needs zinc to make certain enzymes as a part of the antioxidant network that is involved in the repair action and on defending the body against pathogens.
Uric Acid: Before (5.5) to (26-41) and After (3.5) – Massive spike of 5 to 7x. Uric acid is a very powerful antioxidant and is a part of the body’s defense mechanism to kill certain things.
