Has the Law Been Done Away With?

Grace and Commandments – What Scripture Teaches

Many believe that YAHUAH's grace has removed the need to obey His commandments. But has the law truly been done away with? This book answers the question by exploring the connection between grace, sin, and obedience as revealed in Scripture.

Romans 6:14 declares:

"For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace."

If we read this verse alone, it might seem like the law no longer applies. But the surrounding context tells a much different story.

Grace and Torah – Working Together

Grace is YAHUAH's unmerited favor, but it does not give permission to sin. Romans 3:23 states:

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of YAHUAH."

Romans 6:23 warns:

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of YAHUAH is eternal life through YAHUSHUA our Adoni."

1 John 3:4 clarifies that sin is the transgression of the law, showing that grace does not cancel YAHUAH's Torah.

The Duty of Obedience

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 says:

"Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For YAHUAH shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil."

Paul reinforces this in Romans 6:15:

"Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? YAHUAH forbid."

What You Will Discover

This book reveals how YAHUSHUA's life demonstrates the perfect balance between grace and commandments. Grace empowers believers to live in alignment with YAHUAH's will rather than ignore it.

Unknown Hebrew

I write under the name Unknown Hebrew as a devoted member of the Fourth Tribe of Israel, walking daily in faith and obedience to YAHUAH. My journey began within Christian doctrine, but a thirst for deeper truth led me back to the foundation of it all—the Hebrew Israelites. That spiritual homecoming rekindled my purpose: to study, to write, and to live by the ancient paths YAHUAH established for His chosen people. The name Unknown Hebrew reflects my core belief—to turn all attention away from myself and toward the glory of YAHUAH, our ELOHIM. Everything I create is for His purpose: to study and show ourselves approved, to walk in the ways of the Order of Melchizedek, to spread the gospel to Israelites scattered across the earth, and to await with faith the return of our King and High Priest, YAHUSHUA.

Has The Law Been Done Away With? - Unknown Hebrew

    INTRODUCTION

    ––––––––

Has the law been done away with? Let us look at the Scriptures in-depth and see what the Bible says about this topic? To understand this question correctly, you must first establish one key point. We must find out what sin is. When you ask people what sin is, people usually say things like doing bad things, or they name specific things, like smoking, drinking, and so forth. However, did you know that the Bible gives an exact definition of sin? Look at the Scripture 1st John 3:4, ⁴ Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. In other words, sin is breaking the law.

If sin is the transgression of the law or if sin is breaking the law, how can anybody sin today if there is no law in place to break? That's not a difficult concept. Already we have a significant problem with the doctrine of the law being done away with. The belief that YAHUSHUA put an end to ELOHIM’s law is an idea that comes directly from Satan. It is an attempt by Satan to mislead people so that people will be destroyed. They lack the understanding or the knowledge of what ELOHIM desires his people to do. Let us look at another Scripture, Hosea 4:6, ⁴ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy ELOHIM, I will also forget thy children. Notice the Scripture indicates that the ...lack of knowledge; is thinking that you do not have to keep the law. It is this kind of thinking that causes people to be destroyed.

The Bible’s contract between ELOHIM and his people is the knowledge being spoken of in this Scripture. It refers to the law of ELOHIM. Look at Malachi 2:7, ⁷ For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the ELOHIM of hosts. People are destroyed because they do not keep the law, which gives you understanding and knowledge. Keeping the law should be important to every believer. It is also essential to know that keeping the law and believing in YAHUSHUA’s sacrifice will get you into heaven. The law justifies no man; this is true that keeping the law does not make you righteous. However, keeping the law is a sign that you are walking in righteousness. Not only should we keep the law, but we have to make sure that we combine the law with our faith in YAHUSHUA.

Faith in YAHUSHUA, combined with the keeping of the law, is the key to success. Look at John 8:31-32 which reads, ³¹ Then said YAHUSHUA to those Yahudims which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; ³² And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. YAHUSHUA said, you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. So, now the question has to be asked. If we want to be free, we must know the truth. What is the truth? Go to Psalms 119:142, it says, ¹⁴² Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth. Now let us look at John 14:6 to tie in the other Scripture, ⁶ YAHUSHUA saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. We see that the law of ELOHIM and our Savior YAHUSHUA are both considered to be the truth. Therefore, we need both of them to walk correctly before the Father. Not only must we believe in YAHUSHUA, but we must also keep the law of ELOHIM.

In the Book of Revelations, we see a picture of the Saints that have overcome Ha'Shatan; watch what the Scripture says. Revelation 14:12, ¹² Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of YAHUAH, and the faith of YAHUSHUA. It is a combination of the two that will work; you need law, and of course, you need faith in our Savior. The law is part of it; the church has seriously misunderstood the Ministry of YAHUSHUA. He made it very clear that He came to do the will of His Father. You can find that in John 6:38, ³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of Him that sent me. What is the will of the Father? When the children of Israel came out of Egypt, He did not give them a religion to follow; He gave them laws to follow. His will, the Father's will, is that we follow the laws He gave us.

Look at what YAHUSHUA said in Matthew 7:21, ²¹ Not every one that saith unto me, ELOHIM, ELOHIM, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. YAHUSHUA said, those that do the will of His father will enter in, but the will of His Father is to keep his law. Look at Matthew 7:22-23; it reads, ²² Many will say to me in that day, ELOHIM, ELOHIM, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? ²³ And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. This passage is serious. He said, ²² Many will say to me in that day, ELOHIM, ELOHIM, have we not prophesied in thy name.... YAHUSHUA response is going to be, ²³...I never knew you... why would YAHUSHUA say, ... I never knew you.... Go to 1st John 2:4 to find the answer. It says, ⁴ He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. Some people will agree we are supposed to keep the commandments, but we do not have to keep the law.

However, the commandments and the laws are the same. We can prove that in the Scriptures. Go to Romans 7:7, which says, ⁷ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? YAHUAH forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Pay attention to the last part of that Scripture, ...except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Thou shall not covet; is not that a commandment? Paul says, ...the law has said, Thou shalt not covet; Paul is showing you here that the law and the Ten Commandments are the same; they are interchangeable. The law is a commandment, and the commandment is the law.

One of the problems with the churches today is that they are teaching people to go against the law. How can we worship the Father when we are not doing what He requires us to do? Here is what YAHUSHUA said in Luke 6:46, ⁴⁶ And why call ye me, ELOHIM, ELOHIM, and do not the things which I say? The modern-day church has fallen far away from the instructions of the Bible. What did YAHUSHUA say concerning this point? Go to John 4:22-24, which reads, ²² Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Yahudims. ²³ But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. ²⁴ YAHUAH is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. It said, ²² Ye worship ye know not what; it also said, ²⁴...for they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. The truth is the law and YAHUSHUA. So, to worship the Father in spirit and in truth, we have to have faith in YAHUSHUA and walk in the law because it is the truth. Now, the church believes that they have the right to disregard the law because of some of Paul's writings; however, many people have misinterpreted the teachings of Paul and think that he spoke against the law. People have been making this mistake ever since Paul first wrote the Scriptures; let us see what Peter said about the writings of Paul.

Go to 2nd Peter 3:14-16; it reads, ¹⁴ Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. ¹⁵ And account that the longsuffering of our ELOHIM is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; ¹⁶ As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other Scriptures, unto their own destruction. He says, ¹⁶ As also in all his epistles Paul's letters speaking in them of these things in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest... (that means twist; you twist the Scriptures because it seems like it is saying one thing, but it is saying something else). Continuing, it said, ¹⁶...as they do also the other Scriptures, unto their own destruction. Paul's writings can, without proper understanding, lead us down the wrong path. Note that there is no error in his writings; there is an error in the interpretation of his writings by the people who read them. The church teaches the law was done away with because they do not understand what Paul was saying when he talked about grace.

Let us look at these Scriptures and see what Paul was saying. Start at Romans 10:4, ⁴ For Ha’Mashiach is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Notice that the Scripture does not say YAHUSHUA is the end of the law period; it says YAHUSHUA is the end of the law for righteousness. What does that mean? It means that depending on the law by itself and disregarding what YAHUSHUA did on the cross will not work. Before YAHUSHUA came, the law was used as a measuring stick for righteousness. However, many people kept the law, but their heart was not right. Now that YAHUSHUA has come, we must have faith in Him to
