    An Introduction to Mindfulness

    To understand mindfulness, you need to understand the importance of your emotions. Mindfulness is focusing on the present moment without judgment or fear and allowing yourself to fully experience each moment. Awareness is critical. Remaining calm and reflective instead of active and pushy is also essential. When you're mindful, you're noticing the moment. You're noticing what is happening, how you feel, and what the relevance of each moment and experience might be to the bigger picture of your life.

    The History of Mindfulness

    Mindfulness has historical roots extending back thousands of years. Its practice and principles are woven into the fabric of various cultural, religious, and philosophical traditions.

    Ancient Roots in Eastern Traditions

    Buddhism

    The most significant historical foundation of mindfulness is found in Buddhism, where it is referred to as sati in Pali or smṛti in Sanskrit, meaning awareness, attention, or remembering. Siddhartha Gautama, known as the Buddha, emphasized mindfulness as a core component of his teachings in the 5th century BCE.
