Only those who soak in the tub of true contentment at the end of each day genuinely understand why we are all here.

    Starting Words

Positively Smiling and Positively Speaking were thrills for me to complete and offer to everyone. I was so happy with how those two came out; in record speed, I began editing and organizing these new entries into what has now become the book you hold in your hands.

Writing the stories in this series is a somewhat lengthy process, but it is well worth it. Those familiar with my work ethic already understand how focused I am on my literary projects. Returning to refresh some of my thoughts is also part of the excitement, so it counterbalances out. Overall, it is a blessing to be back presenting this new collection to each of you.

If I have done my job correctly, there is no overlap; instead, there is a new and fresh bunch of stories containing little messages for you to consider here. Like the other two, this book has a theme and a loose message flow. The chapters range from holiday references to the daily persona we have created while hiding from accepting our true identities.

As I was putting together the chapter flow, a critical detail was to allow my readers to travel alongside in stories for an entire year. There are twenty chapters here; each is different. What is written about took place. Nothing has been fabricated. As I interpreted them, in a way, you could say these chapters are a Day in Life.

None of my content here will illicit tremendous societal changes, nor are they meant to. You have over a hundred and forty pages of escape and gentle introspection—nothing more. Many have found these books refreshing during a bit of downtime for thoughtfulness. I have to admit they are correct.

I wouldn’t have written them in another way.

Sit by the water, under a shady tree, or slink into a favorite chair and drift into my unique cocoon of contemplated randomness. Here, there are no rules but to possess an open mind and the ability to look as profoundly inside yourself as appropriate. Also, it may even help to have a mirror handy. The person looking back at you might be awaiting some personal growth changes.

I sincerely appreciate you granting me the privilege of occupying your time briefly. Please grab cold water and a bowl of freshly cut fruit and sit next to me.

    Let’s talk.

    Giant Steps

    Shifting

The short story unfolded after a full year of being overwhelmed by work, appointments, writing deadlines, family commitments, etc. Suffice it to say that this chapter is about resetting and regrouping. Inevitably, there comes a point when we need to be realistic about our expectations. There is only so much we can get done within a specific window.

With a sudden jolt to my aging muscles, and quicker than I can think, rise and shine, I am awake again before the new sun. And so begins another morning, another focus, another chance to live fully with intent.

For me, the day begins with a java cup, and then, appropriately, I am off to the races shortly after. If I could figure out how much of my total writing is accomplished before noon, I would bet the percentage to be relatively high.

This seems to be my cadence these days. Since the beginning of January, I have deliberately been supercharged with reinvigorated energy and focus. Maybe I’ve been drinking just a bit too much coffee? It could be, or perhaps it is something else.

I understand the typical tendency to begin a brand-new year with purposeful resolutions. I am no different than anyone else in that regard. There is always that same one we all have about dropping a few unwanted pounds gained during December. But this year, in totality, was to be about so much more. I convinced myself it was going to be a defining one.

The mind is a powerful thing. When it talks, listen. Mine has spoken loudly to me many times. Distancing myself from the person I had known for the better half of last year was much needed as I headed into this one.

A new approach earmarked by so much more than physical bodily improvements was the mission. Sure, I could lose some rolls of unwelcome mid-section fat, but I resoundingly welcomed the opportunity for a newly dedicated way of enjoying life more.

First, instead of absorbing the negative energy around me, I
