About this ebook

After having spent a stormy night together alone in an old shack, Seth Barlow and Faith Harrison begin the journey back to the town of Willow's Peak. They may have survived the storm, but their troubles are only beginning.

Gossip around the town begins to spread about what Seth and Faith did alone in the shack at night. The gossip only gets worse considering that Faith is the Reverend's daughter, and she is expected to behave in a proper manner. Nothing illicit or shameful did happen that night, but that's not enough for the townspeople of Willow's Peak. For them, they've already judged Faith Harrison and Seth Barlow.

Seth won't stand for such loose talk especially because he loves Faith. He just can't bring himself to acknowledge his feelings openly, because he doesn't want to endanger Faith. Seth is still hunting the Rumbarr gang, and he could never jeopardize Faith, much less admit to her that his real name

isn't even Seth Barlow. It's Travis Pendleton.

    Chapter One: Nasty Gossip

Emily Harrison had just arrived back in town from her trip to the Rosenthals. She had helped them deliver and take care of their newborn twins. Emily had spent a few extra nights with the Rosenthals because of the storm that hit, delaying her return to Willow's Peak. But now she was back, and she did not like what she was hearing about her daughter.

She was in the town general store and had just bought a few supplies for her family when she overheard some of the women gossiping. Emily was just leaving the store and the two women had no idea who she was. If they did, perhaps they would have spoken with a little more restraint.

That Harrison woman, spending the entire night with that stranger in town, Seth Barlow! My God!

Indeed, it's horrible! And to think she's the pastor's daughter! Didn't Reverend Harrison teach her that such behavior is sinful?

One of the women shrugged her shoulders. Perhaps he did, but I guess she just caved to the desires of the flesh. Terrible, just terrible.

I can't believe she's a loose woman. After all the times she sang in church and acted so prim and proper. I tell you, it’s beyond embarrassing!

Emily recognized the two women as Joan Carlson and Mildred Wilson. Emily recognized them from church. The two women frequented
