Bassey Come Home

As the lad fought to hold back his tears, he noticed a visitor sitting in the parlour. “This is Mr Belfont,” said his grandfather. “He’s bought Bassey and she’s going to go to London with him. He’s going to make her into a big showbusiness star, performing in front of huge crowds!”

As the heartbroken lad watched Bassey being led away to Mr Belfont’s truck, he waved a tearful farewell to his he cried through his sobs. His frightened pal looked back, her heavily lashed eyes wide with trepidation.
