Letting Death In - Samuel Ludke

    Loving her again

The world, a canvas washed in shades of gray,

Each day a drudgery, a tiresome play.

The sun, a stranger, warmth a distant dream,

My heart, a barren field, a lifeless stream.

But then, a flicker, a whisper on the breeze,

A memory's echo, carried on the trees.

Your name, a songbird, on the wind it flew,

And in that moment, colors pierced the blue.

The world transformed, a vibrant tapestry,

    Sunbeams danced, a joyous symphony.

Flowers bloomed anew, a fragrant, vibrant choir,

My barren field set ablaze with love's sweet fire.

    Each step a pilgrimage, a heart's desire,

Across the miles, fueled by love's inner pyre.

Mountains trembled at the name I spoke,

Oceans parted, the very heavens awoke.

Days turned to weeks, a yearning, endless tide,

Counting the moments, with hope as my guide.

Nights were tapestries woven with your face,

Aching for a touch, a loving embrace.

Then, on a dawn, painted with sunrise gold,

A silhouette emerged, a story yet untold.

A gasp escaped me, a tremor in my soul,

There, standing tall, you made the whole world whole.

Time stood suspended, a teardrop in its eye,

The universe held its breath, beneath a boundless sky.

Years of absence melted in your gaze,

A love unspoken, etched in memory's maze.

Your smile, a sunrise, chasing night away,

Banishing shadows, bringing forth the day.

Your eyes, twin galaxies, where stars ignite,

Reflecting love's embrace, a radiant, endless light.

Words stumbled forth, a hesitant refrain,

Trying to capture the joy, the cleansing rain.

A million sentences condensed to one,

I love you, whispered, the battle finally won.

Tears, like crystal rivers, flowed freely down,

Washing away the years, the hurt, the lonely crown.

You held me close, a haven from the storm,

In that embrace, I found my heart, reborn.

We stood together, beneath the boundless blue,

A tapestry of love, forever stitched anew.

And as we walked, hand in hand, beneath the
