Compiling what was written in my journals into this book would not have been possible without the help of my loving family – they put up with my eccentricities! Many thanks are due to my parents, whose unconditional love and individualistic upbringing brought out the best in my siblings and me. Thanks to my dear sisters whose love and support have seen me through the bitter blue days. My dear friend Anjali’s support and friendly chatter during the early days of healing made me feel safe and vulnerable. I am also grateful to Anita for her support. It has made a fruitful ending possible for this, my labor of love.

The intensity of my feelings was not always allowed to be expressed because of cultural restraints. I was born a girl who must always be quite subdued and polite. These expectations were not too demanding or different from the experiences of my friends and peers. However, I could not always curtail the desire to be vociferous about the upsurge of emotions that
