Adorée, my daughter,

You radiate compassion, love, and justice.

You are a genuine friend who cares for, stands by, and spurs on others.

Zane, my son,

You have embraced the leadership call on your life.

You spark within your men a can-do attitude as you passionately fight for the best in life.

Nolan, my son,

You speak out of the depths of your gracious heart.

You lead with the love of Christ through words that heal, uplift, and motivate.

Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.

Dear Parents:

Though I raised my children in rural Pennsylvania surrounded by farm fields, they did not take to playing with farm tractors and animals. They were superheroes!

My daughter, Adorée, loved Pocahontas and Wonder Woman. My son, Zane, loved Robin Hood and Superman. And my son, Nolan, loved Buzz Lightyear and Batman. I loved watching them put on their costumes and zoom around my house defeating the bad guys and saving the day!

From the moment I began dreaming of having my own children, I saw them as the verse above describes: arrows in the hands of a warrior. They were born to be part of God’s Army in pushing back the enemy, Satan, on this earth for it says they will not be put to shame. That is God’s promise; they will have victory!

In today’s world, more than anything we need righteous heroes! And our children are the future! Instead of putting our children in a bubble and cushioning them from the harsh realities of the world, we should be talking about the rights and the wrongs in life, helping them put on the Full Armor of God with His Word, and preparing them to fight the foe and make a difference for God. If we are the warriors with arrows in our quivers, then we must not be afraid to prepare and send them. By not preparing them, we set them up for failure. By not sending them, we’re allowing Satan to gain ground. There will always be battles in this world. Jesus, himself, said so in Matthew 24:6-13. But at the end of that passage is a promise, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. There is a great reward in standing strong and unwavering.

We need to prepare them with the encouragement of God’s Word:

To show them how God was faithful, so they know He IS faithful.

To show them that God used ordinary men, women, and children to fulfill His purposes and plans so He can use THEM too.

To show them that when a person said yes to God amazing things happened and that when they say yes amazing things can STILL happen.

There is no better time than now to raise leaders and heroes of faith! God so longs for YOUR child
