Introduction

Marriage is a sacred covenant ordained by God from the very beginning. In the Garden of Eden, God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him (Genesis 2:18, ESV). He then created Eve from Adam's rib to be his wife and partner. Jesus himself affirmed the permanence of marriage, stating, What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate (Matthew 19:6, ESV).
