Obsessed with the Cowgirl - Lily Clarke

    CHAPTER 1

    Felicity

    PAST

S ean, I'm not kidding , Brianna shouted in the schoolyard as we sat with the boys. Hank and Caleb were sitting at the end of the table with some football players. Caleb was one of them. Hank wasn't. He hated school, only studied because his mom forced him to."

Bran, you need to chill, Sean grumbled, still scribbling on the napkin with our sister's favorite pen. They loved to tease each other. He tossed the pen to her as he walked over to Marie, who was with a friend I didn't know.

The two were dating and living together. The boys always had different girls with them, but not my brother. Marie was his, and everyone knew it.

When a foot hit mine under the table, I saw Pierre, one of the players, smiling behind his glass. He would never do something like that in front of my brother or Caleb. I smiled back, taking a deep breath, and that caught Caleb's attention.

His green eyes were so bright, and his dark skin, chocolate-toned, made them even more striking. His stance had always been tough guy, with his broad shoulders even though he was so young, and he had a mean-looking face that scared most people. Not me.

    I loved him.

He was my core. Everything in me started and ended with him.

It was a shame it wasn't mutual.

I hated the girls who hung around him. Always with their game shirts, trying to be something everyone knew they weren't. His.

Who are you laughing at, Pierre? Caleb asked loud enough for Sean to hear when he returned from Marie. Hell.

Nobody, man. Pierre relaxed in his chair without looking at me again.

I pushed my tray away and stood up. I was tired of this stupid game of keeping everyone away from me.

    The boys, obviously.

Come on, Bran, I called my sister and walked away, hearing the voices pick up again.

Caleb kept me in his circle of friends just because it was convenient. Being there, he could keep me under his control, and I was fed up.

Caleb is so dumb. What does he think his world is? Fucking crystal? Bran questioned, adjusting the shorts she was wearing. I was still in my cheerleader uniform because I had practice today.

Thank goodness Sean didn't join. I'm tired of this, I said firmly, opening my locker and grabbing my backpack. I walked with my sister to the bathroom as she grumbled about how sexist they were.

I'm going to my class. I have a meeting at the back of the room, she bit her lip, looking at me through the mirror as I panted.

What? Tell me with whom, I spoke quickly, slipping into my summer dress and leaving my hair in the style I had done for practice - a ponytail with red and blue ribbons, the colors of our school.

    Saint.

No way! I shouted shocked, but she just laughed and shrugged.

He's eating well here. Bran opened one of her hands and pointed to the palm with the finger of the other.

My sister walked away laughing and I shook my head. Brianna wasn't like me, inhibited. My sister kissed boys and didn't feel bad about it.

I left the bathroom and walked down the hall until I saw Caleb laughing with Savannah. She was a freshman, but she loved getting attention from the players. I walked by slowly and opened my locker, which was next to his. I shoved my backpack inside and only took out my notebook. I hated carrying bags.

Come on, baby. The river water is at a nice temperature. It'll be my birthday and everyone is invited, she purred near him.

As soon as I heard, I wanted to vomit. I was invited, but it was obvious that I wouldn't go. Jesus forgive me, but I wouldn't go to stupid parties.

Save... His voice stopped and I knew it was because he noticed my presence. He tried not to rub the girls in my face. Big deal.

I closed my locker and stepped away, walking to my class. Pierre appeared in front of me and I raised my eyebrows. He was handsome, I admit. His blond hair, light eyes, and southern charm. But there was no spark like I felt with Caleb, unfortunately.

Let's go to Save's party on Friday, he said, making me raise my eyebrows. Seriously?

    What?

You heard, baby. He twirled a strand of my hair and I looked over my shoulder, searching for Caleb. Once I found him, I saw his mouth attached to Save's. It hurt more than I wanted to admit.

Aren't you worried about the boys, or are we going in disguise? Maybe masked? I questioned, crossing my arms.

    He laughed. No, he chuckled.

I'll deal with them. Are you in or not?

I never got involved in trouble, but I wanted to, for the first time.

    Yes.

The smile on his face was something I would always remember.

What's going on? Caleb's harsh and firm voice echoed above me.

Nothing. I smiled at Pierre before turning around, standing beside him. Pierre and I were talking about Save's party. I spat her name. Caleb narrowed his eyes at that. Were you invited?

    Yes.

    See you there, then.

I smiled and walked away, pulling Pierre. It wasn't a safe place for him, and we both knew it. It was no wonder he let himself be pulled by me.

I'll handle him and your brother. Don't worry.

I wasn't worried. I should have been, though.

When it was time to leave, Caleb, Hank, and Cody were at the bus stop, waiting. I approached alone since I didn't find Brianna. Marie was my friend, but her group of friends was Sean and others. We almost never bumped into each other. The boys didn't even know her.

Do you guys know where Bran is? I asked, stopping beside Hank and seeing the bus approaching.

    She...

I'll kiss whoever I want, I heard my sister's voice and turned, seeing her with a furious Sean.

I sighed realizing that, once again, he caught her with some guy.

No, you won't. I'll tell Dad, Brianna. Let's see this shit happen! Sean yelled enraged, making me sigh and press my temples.

I'm not Fell, Sean. Shout in my face what I shouldn't do, and that's exactly what I'll do. She laughed and shrugged. My brother furrowed his brows, completely furious. You think she won't wake up sooner or later? It's a matter of time, and I swear, you won't be able to keep both of us on a leash.

Brianna, please, I pleaded, pulling her arm.

I'm telling the truth. She stared at me. Caleb and Sean nag you, but I won't let you go to college a virgin. No fucking way.

Everyone fell silent, and I sighed and rolled my eyes.

What the hell are you saying? Caleb roared, but Hank pushed him onto the bus.

    Thank you, Hank, for that.

Yes, Caleb, my sister is gonna fuck! Exactly the same thing you do out there while she's sleeping.

I swallowed hard, feeling my heart throb once again that day. It was real. He really fooled around with girls out there, but have sex with them? Wow, I would never have imagined. I blinked to push back the tears and walked to the bus. I sat down and pulled Bran to my side. I spent the entire ride looking out the window, trying to calm my chest.

Are you okay? I know you like the jerk, I'm sorry...

It's okay. I have a date with Pierre on Friday. It'll be fun, I murmured, changing the subject.

    Really? She widened her eyes.

    Yes. I do.

ON FRIDAY, AFTER AVOIDING Caleb for two days, Brianna and I arrived at Savannah's party. We left home right after Sean. He wasn't going to the party but somewhere with Marie.

    Hey!

I smiled as soon as I heard Pierre's voice. He was in his pickup truck, sitting in the back. I approached with Brianna and placed my hands on my denim shorts. My boots were in the firm sand, and his eyes drifted from them to my face.

Hi, baby. Bran, he waved to my sister, and she smiled.

Bran turned to face me, and I turned as well, so Pierre wouldn't see us talking.

Are you sure? Saint is somewhere around here, and I'm gonna find him, but I don't want to leave you...

Go, baby. Don't worry, I said firmly, and she smiled, waving.

Keep your hands to yourself, she warned Pierre seriously, and he raised his hands.

I approached and sat beside him. As his hand brushed my blonde locks away from my face, I smiled and swallowed hard. We had spent some time together in the past few days, and I was comfortable. Pierre was really nice.

You're so beautiful, Fell, he smiled. I sighed and thanked him for the compliment. No one had ever told me I was beautiful. I understand your brother being protective, but Caleb, not.

My eyes lifted, and I stared at his face, biting my lip. I didn't understand it either.

    We're two, then.

Are you his girlfriend or something?

No. We're nothing, I said firmly, trying not to tremble as I confessed my deepest sadness.

    Good, he smiled.

His hand cupped my cheek, and I took a deep breath. It wasn't my first kiss, but it was the second, so I thought it was just as important. As Pierre's lips touched mine, I tasted the soda. He wouldn't drink anything alcoholic because he was driving. No one would mess up tonight, that was for sure.

His tongue slipped between my lips, and I slid mine against his, tasting his drink again. He was gentle, undemanding, and his touches on my face were nice.

    What the hell is this?

I jumped away from Pierre and saw Hank standing in front of us, but he wasn't the one who spoke. Caleb was walking toward us, almost running.

Pierre stepped down from the truck as I swallowed hard.

Have you lost your mind? Hank questioned the blond who had just kissed me.

Stop, please, I pleaded to Hank, stepping down from the truck.

Did you kiss her? After I shouted in your damn face to stay away? Caleb arrived shouting.

I bit my lip, feeling blood welling up.

"You two don't have anything. I
