    Introduction

Lord, help me! Have you lost your mind? Every parent has or will utter these words at some time either in their head or out loud.

Children have not changed—it is the adult’s expectations of them that have changed. It is my hope that this book is able to get us thinking about our children. You may think you have a little monster that has taken over the sweet child you gave birth to. How did this happen? How can you fix it?

This book and its contents are not for any certain race or economical group. As an educator and because God has blessed me with the chance to teach in various diverse schools over a thirty-year period, I can truthfully state that what is spoken within this book has no boundaries. Situations occur regardless of your race, culture, and eco- nomic background. It is my opinion that there are plenty of people who have done a great job of getting us to think

about our spirit and self-worth as well as our relationship with our spouses, but no where do we talk about our children and the affect we have on them.

Over the years, I have learned that children are the same no matter where they are and are seeking the same single thing: love and a safe place to land! Are you willing to be that parent?

Kids who need the most LOVE will ask for it in the most UNLOVING ways.
