20 SIMPLE AND EASY STRATEGIES TO OVERCOME ADDICTION - Gloria James
Introduction
John sat on his bed's edge and looked at the wall in front of him indifferently. Thoughts and feelings raced through his head, but one thing was sure: he had to change. He had to tidy up. His years-long battle with addiction was destroying him. He was sick of using it all the time and then dealing with the guilt and embarrassment that followed. He had had enough of the power drugs held over him.
He had previously attempted to quit but had failed each time. Why? Well, he always gave in to the urges because they were too great! Yet, things were different this time. He was going to make it this time. He had to ask for assistance since he realized he couldn't do it alone. He began attending sessions of a support group regularly. In addition, he began visiting a therapist who assisted him in resolving his underlying problems and managing his cravings.
It wasn't always easy, and he often considered giving up. Regardless, he persisted and soon began to see results—a gradual but noticeable improvement. He began to feel more like himself and understood that he might be happy without drugs. His friends and family were behind him, supporting him wholeheartedly. They were pleased with his improvement, even if they had witnessed him at his worst.
John got so hard on himself day by day. He handled things one step at a time and concentrated on getting better. He discovered how to live in the now and forgive himself for his past crimes. He found joy in the small things and how to be thankful for what he had.
He also started practicing mindfulness, which enabled him to resist urges while maintaining his composure. He gained the ability to identify his triggers and react to them in constructive ways. He prioritized his physical and emotional well-being as part of his self-care routine.
John was able to kick his addiction eventually. Even though there were obstacles and disappointments along the road, he never gave up. A happy and healthy life was what he was determined to live since he believed he was worth fighting for. And that's just what he did in the end.
So, are you prepared to take charge of your life and escape the shackles of addiction? If so, you're highly welcome. This book contains twenty straightforward, doable techniques that can help you kick the addiction and have a better, more fulfilling life.
Substance misuse and addictive behaviors are only two examples of the various types of addiction, but the consequences are always the same. Your relationships may be strained, your physical and mental health may suffer greatly, and it may become challenging to go about your daily business. Still, things don't have to be like this.
The techniques presented in this book have been carefully chosen to provide you with the resources you need to conquer your addiction permanently. These tactics are simple to put into practice and maintain as they are realistic, doable, and tailored to fit into your daily schedule.
You'll discover various techniques to assist you on your path to recovery, from creating a support system to identifying constructive coping techniques. This book has something to offer everyone, regardless of how long they have been battling addiction.
