Chapter 1:
Superpower Strength
Believe in Yourself
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there lived a little girl named Isabel. It was Isabel’s dream to become a fairy to help others with her magical powers, so she applied to a school that specialized in teaching little girls how to find their inner powers and strength to do good in the world. It was Isabel’s first day in class, and she met her fairy godmother professor named, Lily. Lily was a kind and nurturing person who always tried to encourage her students to do their very best. Today, Lily said, we are going to learn one of the most important concepts in becoming a fairy, and that is how to fly. I will sprinkle fairy dust over each one of you, and with this dust, if you truly believe in yourself, then you will be able to do anything, including fly. All of the other students closed their eyes as the fairy dust was gently being sprinkled in the air by Lily. I can fly said Martha, one of the students. I can fly said Melinda, another one of the students. After a short time period, all of the students in the class were flying all the way up in the sky. Lily was so proud of all of them. That is all of them except for Isabel.
A group of cartoon fairies Description automatically generated with low confidenceWhy can’t I fly?
asked Isabel. The fairy dust was sprinkled in the air, and everyone else was able to fly, but my feet were still firmly planted on the ground. Isabel was so sad that she ran out of the classroom. She ran and ran as fast as she could as tears were rolling down her face. All Isabel ever wanted to do in life, all she ever dreamed of doing, was becoming a fairy just as her mother and grandmother had become. Suddenly Isabel felt a hand gently touching her shoulder. Why are you so sad? Isabel looked up and saw a little girl with red hair, freckles, and a kind smile. Who are you?
asked Isabel. My name is Hope, and I live a few blocks away from here. I saw you crying, and I wanted to see if you were okay. Isabel explained to Hope what happened on her first day of school and that she felt like a failure because all of her other classmates were able to fly with the fairy dust with the exception of her for some reason. Hope replied, Well you have to try again. Go back to school tomorrow and try again, especially if becoming a fairy is that important to you.
Isabel decided to try again, thanks to her new friend’s advice.
From that day on, Isabel and Hope became close friends. Hope waited every day for Isabel after class. So, how did it go today?
Isabel replied, Sadly, my teacher sprinkled fairy dust in the air, and all of the other students in my class were able to fly with the exception of me.
Don’t be sad,
replied Hope. Just keep trying and never give up.
Isabel smiled and was so happy that she found a friend who encouraged her and was there for her. You know Hope I am so lucky to have a best friend like you.
I feel the same way,
replied Hope.
Weeks and weeks passed by, and every day, Hope would wait outside of the school for Isabel, asking her the same question, Were you able to fly today?
Isabel would sadly reply, No, not today, but that is okay because I have you to make me feel better.
One day after school, Isabel waited outside of the classroom for Hope, but Hope was not there. It was
