I am ten years old and in the fifth grade. I want to thank Jan Skillman, Brandon Johnson, Erin Swaim and Amelia Kronser- Cole for helping me with this book. I love to write, and have been making books for as long as I can remember. It was very exciting to see Lightning Girls come to life. The idea came to me a while ago. My friends and I would pretend we suddenly developed superpowers. I thought it would be fun to share the Lightning Girls with the world.

LIGHTNING GIRLS
AVA’S STORY
Isabelle, Kate and Ava are three normal girls. They are best friends, and probably the last people on earth to become superheroes, but somehow it happened. This is the story of the lightning girls. I hope you like it.
CHAPTER 1
Ava’s brother was losing a football game by ten points. Mom always insisted Ava and her friends sit by her because Ava’s dad went crazy over football games. In fact, when Ava was five, she lost a tooth at one when her dad jumped up cheering.
The girls felt as if they were starving, and Ava couldn’t take it anymore. She tapped on her mom’s shoulder.
What is it, Ava?
her mom asked.
We’re hungry. Can we get food? Please?
Ava begged, batting her brown eyes at her mom.
Fine. Only popcorn, got it?
Ava’s mom said, handing the girls each a dollar.
One by one, the girls jumped off the bleachers. As they walked to the concession stand, the wind caught the money and carried it across the field. The girls ran onto the field to get it, when something glowed in the sky. It appeared to be getting bigger. It got bigger and bigger until it crashed right on the field. All three of the girls were instantly knocked out. Glowing goo splashed on the girls—all except for Ava.
CHAPTER 2
Ava moved her brown hair off her forehead and opened her eyes. Slowly the other girls did too.
Where are we?
Kate asked, worried. Her normally neat blond hair was a mess.
I don’t know!
Isabelle cried.
Footsteps walked toward the room the girls were in. A woman with silky white hair and pink eyes stood there.
Hello, girls!
she said.
Who are you?
Ava asked.
Don’t be afraid, girls. I am Ms. Eliot, your instructor,
she said in a pleasant voice. "You can call
