Introduction:
Why am I writing a book about insurance? Firstly, because too many people enter the insurance industry without understanding the industry they are actually entering. Second, because insurance has gotten a harsh reputation over the years. People often say, 'No one plans to get into insurance; insurance finds them.' This negative perception exists because, in this country, we don't learn to value financial principles from a young age. However, insurance is a vital part of financial services, which includes banking, investments, and, of course, insurance. Essentially, we're talking about the business of money itself. It's interesting because everybody wants money, yet being in the business of money is one of the least thought-about career paths in the entire country. Those who do grow up wanting to be in the insurance industry are usually people who saw their parents working in the field and benefited from a career in the industry.
When most people decide to join the insurance industry, they rarely ever want to leave. My story is similar in this regard. I grew up wanting to be in the music business, thinking I would be an R&B singer from the age of 13 to 33. I pursued it with full intensity, making sacrifices along the way, as well as many financially illiterate decisions. Although I had some great experiences in the entertainment industry, it ultimately gave me the

skills that prepared me for the insurance industry. I learned about having a strong work ethic, the ability
to deal with and overcome rejection, and the importance of interacting with people effectively for mutual benefit. The insurance industry, just like any other industry, is all about people. If you understand people, the only thing missing is understanding how money moves, how risk
