She has had her poetry and short stories read on local radio. Violetta is a prolific writer of short fiction, having written and published more than 40 short stories with Gypsy Shadow.

    Chapter One

    Seven thirty, usual place. Yes, I’ll be there.

    Linda was puzzled. As a rule, her ex didn’t call at a minute’s notice expecting her to drop everything, change any plans she’d made, but he had. And against her own better judgment, she had agreed to meet him later that evening.

    She sat down at the kitchen table, picked up the cup of Earl Grey she’d poured earlier and took a sip. She had a lot to think about. John saying he wanted to introduce her to someone special had not been unexpected; she’d known since they’d separated, he’d been playing the field. She was glad he was moving on; their marriage had not been what one would call a bed of roses. John had expected to be able to carry on as a single man after they married; nights out with the boys, weekends away following his favourite football team… or so he said.

    Linda had remonstrated over the way he had been staying out until the early hours of the morning and he had retaliated by moving to the spare bedroom.

    Well, I won’t disturb you now when I come in late, will I? he’d snapped.

    Linda took another sip of the Earl Grey and brought to mind the nights she’d laid awake waiting to hear his key in the lock letting her know he was home safe and sound.
