Strength Through Transparency: Shining a Light on Mental Health
()
About this ebook
There was a time when all I could see was black. Every stressor added to the mounting anxiety and looming depression. When I tried to make things better, it seemed to plunge me deeper into a state of helplessness.
I am only one of the more than forty percent of Americans that have a mental illness. In this book, I want to share how we can gain strength from our suffering and help others through transparency.

Strength Through Transparency - Star P. Davis
Chapter 1
The prevalence of mental illness has increased in recent years. Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide (NAMI, 2019). In the U.S., treatment of adults with mental illness went from 19.2% in 2019 to 21.6% in 2021, while 42% of diagnosable Americans stated they could not afford treatment (Forbes, 2024).
