About this ebook

Using Equine Photography as Mental Health Therapy is a self help book that outlines the usefulness of equine photography as a tool for mental health difficulties and depression. The author only briefly touches on the technical aspects of the art of photography as she believes it's not about the quality of the images that you make that's important.

This particular type of therapy is all about your emotions, thoughts and feelings in the moment and beyond. She has chosen the horse as the subject of this book, because not only does she love them (a lifelong passion!), she also knows that they are the perfect animal to help humans to heal.

Tina Collins is an ambassador for equine assisted therapy and she wrote this book as she agrees that the horse is a 'divine mirror': an animal capable of reflecting your emotions back at you. They help you learn about yourself and can break down psychological barriers.

Using Equine Photography As Mental Health Therapy - Tina J. Collins

    Introduction

HI AND WELCOME TO MY little book about using equine photography as a form of mental health therapy. My name is Tina Collins and I am a Book Reviewer, Author, Macro Fine Art Photographer, Freelance Artist and an Ambassador for Equine Assisted Therapy.

Photography is a creative art form of using a camera to capture and record images of just about  anything you can think of.

There are many types of photography including portraiture, macro, landscape, weddings and nature, just to name a few. Photography can be also used as therapy to help with mental health difficulties. In order to use photography as therapy you do not need to be a professional photographer. All your images are for your personal use only. It really doesn’t matter at all if they don’t come out as you intended.

I thought it would be useful to put together a little book looking at the ways that photography (as a creative art form) can be used incorporating the equine, to help with anxiety and depression. Equine Photography is already an established business model.

It did seem to be a natural progression to combine horses and photography together, as they are both subjects I enjoy. This book can be used as a reference for groups of people and those who are alone.

Please note: If you bought the previous version of this book, you will find that there are significant differences in this book to the first one. I’ve removed some sections, added others and increased the amount of images.

IHAVE CHOSEN THE EQUINE for the subject of this book because they are a huge passion of mine. I’ve loved them ever since I was a child and I pestered my parents countless times over the years to buy me one. It didn’t happen but ever since
