    DEDICATION

I dedicate this book to anyone who feels intimidated by all of the well-known brands and fancy styles of cameras with too many gadgets to understand. If you ever felt confused by all of the fascinating functions they have, felt overwhelmed and lost by the technical jargon in most photography books, or generally feel like you can’t take a decent picture, much less a good one, stop right there.

I’m here to tell you that you can, because these are pictures I took to prove all those theories wrong. So now there is finally a photography book that we all can understand! Enjoy and share with your other camera-shy friends and family.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

My acknowledgements begin by thanking my mother for being my best critic and editor, and to my father for buying my first camera and subsequent upgrades throughout the years. Thank you also to my sisters: Cindy, for continuing to promote my photography endeavors, and Jill, for being a great graphic artist who showed me how to see with an artist’s eye. Thank you to my relatives in Cleveland who opened my eyes to finding beauty, where many do not see it. I am grateful they allowed me to include their children’s images in this book. I especially want to thank my cousin Fran Jacobs, for being a great support and encouraging me to continue to develop my passion for photography. Thank you to UCLA Alumni Travel for providing trips to the various countries where I was able to visit and find my amazing photographic opportunities. Thank you to Cantor Lam of Stephen S. Wise Temple for leading a special behind the scenes tour of Poland and Israel. Thank you to Drs. Myrna Silton-Goldstein and Allen S. Chroman for helping me become my best self. Thank you to Robyn Goldberg, R.D. for helping me create a new relationship with food. Thank you to Alvaro Lavin for keeping my body fit and strong. Thank you to Laurie Ginsburg for massaging out the stress that inevitably comes up. Thank you to Matty Solomon for always listening without judgment while lovingly keeping my skin looking young and healthy. Thank you to Dr. Tanya Reynolds, Andrea Evenson and Cory Baker for their endless encouragement and confidence in me, which in turn, gave me confidence in myself. A special thank you goes to Dominique R. Carrillo and Janis Nathan for always believing in me and advocating for me. I also thank my friend Pilar Herr and her family for permitting me to use their pictures in this book. Many people assume that a photographer works alone, but my husband Eric has been and still is an excellent photo spotter. Without him, many beautiful pictures would have gone unnoticed. Finally, I want to thank my uncle, Zeke Warsaw, who showed me that you don’t need a big expensive camera to take good pictures.
