About this ebook

"Extreme Art Nudes" has taken the classic nude out of the boudoir... WAY out! Maintaining a highly artistic perspective, we have explored a number of fetishes and other situations that are atypical of the classic nude. This juxtaposition of the soft female form with harsh elements creates the most visually compelling imagery. It is a celebration of the great inner strength that women share, and exhibited herein by my amazing model and muse, Vanessa. Brief erotic essays accompany the spectacular, full-color and timeless B&W photographs. They provide the reader with a spicy insiders perspective related to the genesis and creation of each image. Also, as the chapters unfold, they will reveal a love story - that special relationship between an artist and muse.

    Introduction

I wanted to pursue my own edgy erotic photography… only I wanted to present it with an artistic perspective that the upper-class art community could appreciate. This was the genesis of Extreme Art.

    ~Victor

What is Extreme Art? Put simply, it is the result of taking the classic nude female form out of the comfort and familiarity of the boudoir, while maintaining an artistic presentation. The juxtaposition of the warm, soft curves of the female form with elements typically considered too harsh or severe for the unclad body, creates a sharp contrast that, when skillfully posed, lighted, and photographed, produces a most visually compelling image which challenges the mainstream. It is this that photographer Victor Navarre has designated as Extreme Art.

Without change, everything, including the classic nude in art, becomes stagnant and eventually fades into the background, unnoticed. Francisco Goya shocked viewers in 1797 with his La maja desnuda (The Nude Maja). This was the first painting to clearly show pubic hair on a nude, which made it profane at the time. In 1863, Edouard Manet created controversy with his Le dejeuner sur l’herbe (The Luncheon on the Grass), as it depicted a nude woman casually lunching with two fully dressed men in a picnic scene. This was, apparently, an affront to the propriety of the time. Manet caused a new stir in 1865 when he presented his Olympia, wherein the model gazed confrontationally and directly at the viewer, instead of averting her eyes, as any respectable woman would do under similar circumstances at the time. Olympia is the name associated with prostitutes in 1860s Paris. Much more recently, Robert Mapplethorpe sparked national attention with his The Perfect Moment series in 1989. This series explicitly depicted homoerotic and BDSM acts, leading to charges of obscenity against the Contemporary Arts Center where the series was on display. A jury trial delivered a not-guilty verdict. Art MUST challenge the viewer’s sensibilities, lest it die. Our Extreme Art will challenge the mainstream, and then it will become mainstream.

Throughout the entirety of Victor’s life, he has always revered women as creatures so precious that they each deserved their own pedestal. Through his desire to not only show them the inner beauty that he saw in them, but also to capture their smoothly curved form, he became a photographer. Back when he’d first begun this journey, he felt strongly that there was yet another layer to women’s beauty that simply wasn’t being brought out. After years of working with some very impressive models from far and wide, this hidden quality continued to elude Victor in his photographs. Even the images he’d seen in all available media throughout the decades didn’t, in his opinion, do justice to the women of the world. They’d either present women in distasteful or mundane pornographic imagery conveying no artistic sense, or they’d be beautifully and artistically rendered, but the subjects remained in the comforts of the boudoir, thus perpetuating artistic stagnation.

Finally, with the stagnant artistic image above firmly planted in his mind, it came to him. The intangible thing that he felt was missing, but couldn’t quite identify, was there now… plain as day. TRUST! While there is always a certain level of trust between an artist and model, nude or otherwise, there is nothing more alluring than the trust a woman conveys when she allows another person to subject her to severe, harsh, even painful conditions while she’s most vulnerable – nude. She trusts this person – the photographer in this case – to protect her from any real harm. Victor suddenly visualized the classic nude in his mind again, only now she lay bound and totally helpless in the virgin snowfall of a winter’s day! He knew that women have amazing inner strength that allows them to deal effectively with adversity – specifically the physical trials of childbirth – so he was confident that, if he could find one or more open-minded, adventurous women to serve as the model(s), he could fulfill his dream of creating Extreme Art. Victor launched a search for a woman who could transform his visions into something tangible!

When an exhibitionist and a voyeur combine, they are sometimes lucky enough to form a rare, wonderful, and exciting relationship. An artist and muse may very well be the finest example of such an anomaly, which is perhaps the reason that so many artists are in constant search of such a unique beauty to captivate them. Sometimes, one is fortunate enough to find this inspiration without much difficulty. Such was the case for Victor, when Vanessa Davis came to him through a simple message in cyberspace expressing mutual interest in the concept of Extreme Art.

In response to an online casting call for outdoor nudes in the snow via a popular modeling website, Vanessa approached Victor with intense interest in the idea. She had always been drawn to the serene simplicity of nature as it is most sharpened by the crisp air and lacy frosts of winter. As a new model who enjoyed being nude, she wanted to set her work apart from others by incorporating uncommon elements into her work. At this early stage in her experience, she had already started to do so by indulging in fetishes as part of a photo shoot with another photographer, and was eager to push the envelope even further by taking advantage of this opportunity with Victor.

This book chronicles not only the numerous unique, unusual and oft-extreme photo shoots that Vanessa and Victor did throughout one incredible year, and the images they created, but it also reveals the development of the exceptionally close relationship that grew between the pair, first as photographer and muse, and later as very best friends… a kind of platonic love story!

Upon their initial contact, the pair immediately understood that they shared a passion for creative exploration, but the depths to where it would lead them was yet to be discovered…

    Author’s Note:

Victor Navarre and Vanessa Davis have consistently strived to achieve a balance of provocative content and tasteful presentation in their art. This frequently involved presenting, in their photos, erotic elements that are appreciated in the separate personal lives of Vanessa and Victor. These were staged for the camera, as the pair, while close friends in real life, has maintained a strictly platonic friendship throughout their shoots. Accordingly, their conduct during the creation and capture of the images began with the respectable professional distance of any reputable and proper photographer and model – i.e. Victor did not touch Vanessa’s naked body in the beginning, and would not until so allowed. This is the correct procedure when first working together. Over a remarkably short period of time, however, as the pair grew closer and more comfortable with each other, Vanessa invited Victor to enjoy greater access to her amazing body within the needs of each shoot theme. As such, the reader should understand that while the words that Victor has used to supplement the photos are true, and additionally serve to enhance the reading experience while viewing the images, they should not be construed to indicate anything further.

The stories as well as the content of every photograph are genuine and authentic. Both Vanessa and Victor value integrity in their work,
