About this ebook

Psalm 105:19 says, "Until the time that his word [of prophecy regarding his brothers] came true, the word of the Lord tested and refined him."

The prophetic word over Joseph's life initiated a process (tested and refined).

A journey.

A development.

A spiritually legal action.

A method of action.

A personal transformation.

The process of a prophetic word is about understanding what the process looks like. You are not by yourself. All of our forefathers went through a process because of the spoken word over their life. This book will not only empower you with understanding the process, but will also give you tools to implement what will help you experience the manifestation of every prophetic word.

    About the Author

    Introduction

I never questioned a word coming to pass until 2012. I figured God was God, and he would move whenever he decided, and things would change in my life. I thought that we had to keep praying, and eventually, he would move. I never considered what caused people to not get to divine assignments. And while I grew up in church, I was never taught that the promises of God were conditional. Even though I believe wholeheartedly that every leader that I have come in contact with meant well, they just didn't know and couldn't teach me.

Sometimes, when I say that prophetic promises are conditional aloud, people are a little taken back. Like me, they were raised on the idea that God is sovereign, which he is. And that he can do what he wants to do and when he wants to do it—which he can. But I always share that he doesn't defy his own principles. I remember when I received the revelation about how he doesn't want anyone to perish, yet the reality is that there will be people who will perish because they will not submit to God as Lord of their life. And they have the right to take that path. And God, in his sovereignty, will not save them against their will.

In 2012, my life changed, and the change was enough for me to consider why I was down the path I was and not down another. I realized that the sum total of my life wasn't because God ordained alone but choices. God can desire something for us, but if we don't choose to go that way, we will be down a different pathway. Life circumstances caused me to search for answers. If a prophetic promise isn't automatic, then what does it take to see it manifest? I also began to look at the reality of my circumstance and the truth of God's word from a different perspective.

I was so used to the hypocrisy of the mask. You know, when someone asks us how we are doing, and we declare and decree, I'm blessed and highly favored. I was used to silently suffering, even though I was hurting. But God began to take me on a journey that awakened a new perspective in me. God began to teach me how to fight the good fight of faith. I began to look at my life and say to my Papa, You said that if I'm willing and obedient that I would eat the good of the land…and brokenness is not the good of the land, poverty is not the good of the land, fear isn't the good of the land, and hitting walls are not the good of the land. Sleeping on the floor isn't the good of the land, and financial hardship is not the good of the land. I realized that my external life was a result of what was going on in my soul and what I believed about God, myself, and life. Can I subscribe to you that seeking the kingdom (which is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost [Rom. 14:17]) and his righteousness (Matt. 6:33) is a soul" journey. And your soul is your mind, will, emotion, imagination, and intellect. And according to John, you cannot live beyond the health and wealth of your soul.

Philippians 2:12 tells us to "work out our own soul salvation with fear (reverence) and trembling (one who doesn't lean on his own ability because he cannot trust his ability completely to meet all requirements).

So in essence, I realized that we have to do the work in our soul with the help of the Holy Spirit. Which in turn requires us to move in life…to do something…because faith without works is dead (James 2:20, 26).

I know God gets blamed for everything—well, everything bad. But in 2012, I began to ask questions about faith and how a prophetic word comes to pass. And this was the beginning of my journey in researching and pursuing God for answers concerning the process of a prophetic word.

The goal of this book is to get you to consider what it will require in order to manifest a prophetic word. A prophetic word requires agreement and cooperation from two parties: God and us. God is keeping up with his end of the covenant, are we keeping up with ours? My prayer is that as you read this book, you will be awakened to the brevity if we cooperate with divine assignments and see them manifest.

    Chapter 1

The Father gave Joseph a dream. The dream foretold his future. Joseph would come to a place in his future where his family would honor and show respect to him. Joseph would become a leader during a time of abundance in preparation for the leanness (Gen. 37–47). Looking back on Joseph's life, it looked as though Joseph was God's plan to deliver many from the time of leanness. Looking at this as a testimony to myself, I'd have to ask the question, Does Papa speak to all of us about our future like he did with Joseph? Is our purpose and calling within his kingdom's plan?

He established a testimony (his commandments—his words) in Jacob's life (Psalm 78:5); does the Father establish his words in us today? Does the word that he speaks over us set our life down a predestined path or an orchestrated path?

Paul told Timothy to fight according to the prophecy that was already spoken concerning him (1 Tim. 1:18), and Job 33:14–16 lets us know that one of the reasons we dream is that the Father speaks and we do not perceive him. He speaks again, and we don't perceive again, so he sends the dream in order to seal instruction. God actually wants to seal an instruction? So when we don't perceive the Father in our waking hours, he sends a dream and opens our ears, and then imprints on our hearts and minds his desire for our lives—through a picture.

According to these scriptures, I think that it is safe to say that God is committed to communicating, and he is committed to our future. The biblical canon is filled with many examples of the Father speaking. Genesis starts off with what God said. It opens up with prophetic words. It is interesting that the canon starts with a prophetic word. That in itself should let us know that everything starts with a prophetic word, even our existence. And all that we are called to accomplish begins with a prophetic word. His word is always over our lives and situations.

God's voice is over our lives and situations. God speaks to Abraham and tells him to leave his family (Gen. 12). God gives Jacob a dream about his future in Genesis 28. God warns Laban through a dream. The reality is that the words and God said occurs 1,324 in the scripture, and there are twenty dreams documented in scripture. Some scholars believed that there are over three hundred prophecies about Jesus in the Old Testament (55 Old Testament Prophecies about Jesus by Jesus Film.org, https://www.jesusfilm.org/blog/old-testament-prophecies/).

God spoke through thunder (2 Sam. 22:14); a still small voice (1 Kings 19:12) spoke from heaven (Psals 68:33), spoke upon the waters. Psalm 29, Jeremiah 10:13, Ezekiel 43:2, Psalm 29, and Ezekiel 12:25 described the power and strength of God's voice and the fact that his word accomplishes his desire and purpose. He spoke through his logos (Exod. 20:1). He spoke to Ezekiel the priest (Ezek. 1:3). The Father has spoken through his children (Ezek. 33:1–4, Gen. 2:16–17). Papa has spoken to give strategy (Gen. 2:18). God has spoken as a way of fellowship with man (Gen. 3:8).

I would suggest that a part of God's faithfulness was that he spoke about every aspect of life. I think that I am still learning even at this stage of my walk how much Papa is committed to communicating to me. But by the time I realized that God was speaking more than I was perceiving, I had been a Christian for many, many years. As a matter of fact, most would consider me a leader because I had served as a minister of music, a preacher, and an intercessor and served in ministry ever since I was thirteen. All this church activity and I didn't know practically what it looked like to effectively communicate with the Father. I knew how to cry to Him, pray prayers of supplication, but I didn't know how intentional the spirit to spirit exchange could actually be.

I received many prophetic words over the years. As a matter of fact, most of the words that I received either came from a prophet speaking to me or me having a dream. No one taught me what it looked like to perceive the Father's voice when I began my relationship with the Father. But as I looked back over my life, I could see how drawn I was to prophetic things. I had many, many spiritual experiences, but there was one activity that I kind of fell into where I knew that I was hearing from Papa clearly. I didn't even know when I started doing it; I just knew that it was before I was preaching,
