    About the Author

    Foreword

Writing this amazing book's foreword is one of the easiest things I've ever had to do. As an author of several books and being in ministry and motivational speaking for over sixty years, I can recognize the impact this will have. I've known Riley and his wife Ann for thirty years now, having first met them when I was speaking at the Abundant Life Christian Center in Margate, Florida. We immediately seemed to have a connection, and that relationship has grown through the years. I've come to know their heart and love for people. Riley and Ann are those whom you would call connectors, and they are always at work connecting people with the body of Christ and a personal relationship with the Lord. Leaving behind a successful life in the business world, Riley has found greater success as a pastor/teacher and board member of several nonprofit community outreaches.

The book starts with the phenomenal miracle story about their grandson and doesn't slow down after that. Riley has adapted the stories of miracles and God's power to change lives in an easy-to-read and exciting format.

This is a book that I've been waiting for someone to write for some time. It is a book of encouragement and insight based on the true testimonies of everyday life being impacted by signs and wonders. Whether you are already a believer or about to become one by reading this book, you will marvel at the things you are going to encounter. There are and will be things you face when believing in God is not enough, and you will then learn to simply believe God and His promises, no matter what. I know you're going to love this book.

When Believing in God Is Not Enough

Nothing could have ever prepared us for our first glimpse of this little lifeless child lying on that treatment table. This was our grandson!

What a week! In reality, there's probably no such thing as a typical week, when your normal life is already at the high end of busy and one of your adult sons, his wife, and energized eighteen-month-old son have come back home. In fact, being on pastoral staff at a large church had necessitated several trips to local hospitals in the Fort Lauderdale and Coral Springs area to minister to and encourage friends, church family, and even one of our adopted kids. It seemed like I ought to know most of the ER staff by name at Coral Springs. So it was not really a big surprise when we got the call to come to the ER because Mike, my dear friend (really like a brother), was experiencing chest pains. No, the major shock was to come a couple of hours later, even as we, my wife Ann at my side, were joined together in prayer taking authority over this attack against Mike.

Just as we finished the prayer and our friend was laughingly telling his wife that he didn't really need to come here, we got the call that immediately puts you in a state of shock, heightened anxiety, and determined denial all at the same time. I had already received that kind of message enough times before and still had vivid memories of the night our daughter was killed ten years earlier.

On the other end of the phone was our son, Bryan, telling me to come to Northwest Hospital in Margate as quickly as possible. The story he was telling me seemed surreal at best. Did he just say Zachary, our eighteen-month-old grandson, had just drowned? Yes, I'm sure that's what he said.

Zachary, it seemed, had managed to get outside at a friend's house even though the door was locked. When they noticed him missing, they discovered he had fallen into the swimming pool. CPR and emergency rescue techniques by the first police officer and other personnel had managed to restore some shallow breathing, but now the ER doctors were not really telling them anything! Dad, just get here now! Bryan cried.

We were off! You know, I don't even recall if we told anyone what was happening or not.

Immediately, on the way to the car, we began to pray in the Spirit as God's Word commands in 1 Corinthians 14:15. Even as we drove at speeds not at
