About this ebook

I gave up everything for him, but what if that's not enough?

Waking up some place new with no idea how I'd gotten there should have terrified me, but one look into the eyes of my rescuer told me everything would be fine. Handsome, caring, and totally hot for me, I thought he was the perfect man.

Then I realized what happened, why I was there, and that I wasn't human anymore.

The sight of the blue and green scales that replaced my legs sent me into a spiraling panic.

I needed him more than ever, but instead of comforting me, my supposed hero changed.

From kind and caring, he turned cruel and vindictive.

My heart aches for the man I'd lost during his transition. How am I supposed to adapt to my new world without the help of the man I gave up everything for?

This quick read continues Rachel's and Caleb's story from Maddened By The Mermen. Transitioning to life under the water is a challenge, and fate might not be enough for this curvy heroine and handsome prince. Get ready for a red-hot story that will have you wishing you could splash in the ocean to cool off.

I opened my eyes slowly, the separation of each lash from the next was painful. How long had I been asleep? My vision was foggy, but gradually my mind cleared enough that I could focus. I looked around, trying to sort out what happened. Nothing looked familiar. I should be panicking, but I couldn’t. For some crazy reason I felt an air of serenity. Nothing made sense.

Voices floated into my confused mind clouding my brain more.

She’s still not awake?... Are you sure she’s okay? Transitions aren’t supposed to take this long. The voice sounded familiar, but I couldn’t place it.

Your transition was easy. You used to- the voices faded slightly, and I wasn’t able to follow the rest of the conversation. Were they talking about me? Should I try to find them? The rational part of my mind was screaming warnings. I’d woken up in a strange place with no memory of how I’d gotten there. The last thing I should do was try to find the people who’d brought me here, but the peaceful sensation suppressed all but a foggy haze of danger.

A tickle grew in my throat until I couldn’t suppress it.

The echoing sound of my cough was quickly drowned out by the sound of doors flying open and slamming into the walls.

    She’s awake!

I struggled to sit up and see who had come in, the weight of my body felt heavier than ever before. Within a second there was a hand on my chest pressing me back down.

Don’t move. You’re not ready yet. The voice was deep and strong, but I couldn’t place it. I turned my head towards it.

As I moved, I noticed details I hadn’t before, the curved ceiling, the iridescent walls.

Trevor? Trevor was across the room watching me. My eyes traced over his sculpted features trying to remember, but everything was foggy. If he was that far away, who’s hand was on me? I looked down to my chest to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating the pressure. My eyes traced up a well-muscled arm, past a bare chiseled chest that had me drooling. At the sight of the man staring down at me I couldn’t breathe. My heart raced in my chest and the memories came rushing back in jumbled fragments. The pieces made my cheeks burn with embarrassment.

We’d been intimate, but I couldn’t even remember his name. Panic squeezed my ribs in a death grip. I wanted to run, but I couldn’t move my legs.

    What-Who-

A hum built around me, filling the air and stilling my soul. My breathing eased and my heart rate slowed as peace washed over me.

Relax, little one. Little? I hadn’t been little in years, but I was dwarfed by the massive muscled frame standing next to me. Electricity traced behind his trailing fingers as he slid his hand up to my cheek. Just breathe. His eyes stayed locked on mine while he knelt down so we were face to face. What do you remember?

I hesitated for a moment embarrassed by what I could put together of our encounter. My
