Wonders of Poetry

About this ebook
Poetry has a way of getting one to thinking, maybe ponder a bit. Sometimes it can find a way for someone to reflect into his or her life, like "Moving On" or "Our Greatest Gift."
Poetry can also be serene, sentimental, enlightening, or just plain pleasing to read. It can also let someone see the same words differently and mean something else to him or her. That's the power of poetry!
Enjoy your read, and let your mind wander.

To my husband, Mike, and my children, Marisia and David, and the rest of my family and friends for believing in me and encouraging me to follow this dream.
I have so much gratitude for all they have done for me.
Thank you.
The Rainbow
A rainbow is a magical thing
A smile on your face it does bring
The colors of many from left to right
Opens our eyes to the wonderful sight
The coolness of rain and the warmth of sun
Come together and become one
The sight of a rainbow is not very long
It whispers its presence like a quiet little song
A pot of gold…at the rainbow's end
Of riches and jewels it's supposed to send
Little did we know…the riches are found
From the silvery sky…to the land all around
Like a small breeze…a snowflake…or even a cloud
They are just here…without making a sound
We fail to notice the beauty they hold
Laid upon us…like a brick of gold
In our lives there's much to see
For only a moment for you and me
So many wonders that come our way
Given by God…each blessed day
Neighborly Love
With retirement…a new life starts
A chance to meet others…meet new hearts
We made a huge leap…a new beginning for two
By moving cross country where everything's new
Locating a new place was not an easy feat
Wanting a lot less cold and definitely more heat
We searched and searched as our minds swirled
From the east coast to central US became our new world
We now live on a rough…dusty county road
Our new lives would begin…to unravel and unfold
Calling us a New Yorker is now…our new label
We'll do our best to adjust anew…if we are able
We share this corner with another three
Our neighbors…hopefully…friends they will be
They are all unique in their own little way
Makes each brand-new dawn an unusual day
Thow shalt love thy neighbor…as thyself
As the Bible says that is kept on our shelf
This is the ultimate test…for both him and I
To treat each one alike…are words from the most high
One of these neighbors is so quiet and shy
Hardly speaks a word except to say hi
He stays to himself on his land
