    Rajal Neeti - Rajal Gupta

    Chapter - 1

As long as we live, we will have stress

Everybody has their own problems. No matter how big you think yours are, there is someone else that has bigger problems or different problems.

    — Josh Hutcherson

Have you ever read biographies of great people, if not then definitely read them. Some did not have parents; some were physically disabled while some were born in poor financial condition. Things do not stop here. There were many people who were enjoying a very good life, but when someone cheated on them, they were completely ruined.

There are many such incidents which prove that we are not the first person in the world who has worries in life. Just a few days ago, in an interview, I was asked that now-a-days young people get very frustrated and because of this despair they opt for many wrong steps including suicide, what do you like to say? I told them that you are right and such incidents are rapidly increasing which is a cause of worry; our life is such that no matter how successful you are or how much expert you are in your work, problems keep arising in between which shake you and when such problems come then we are sometimes completely broken, but the important thing is that we should solve the problem as soon as possible, because our life is not just ours, there are many others who are delighted to see us happy and get distressed if we look worried. Therefore, we have to be careful not only for ourselves but for those people.

The only place in the world where you will not find any worries is the graveyard because there life has ended, so it is clear that as long as there is life there are worries too. I would like to give an example of a person who always faced tensions in life, his mother passed away at a very young age, after sometime his girlfriend also expired. He was unsuccessful in business and lost elections repeatedly. Don’t you think that these disappointments had no effect on him. He was badly affected. He fell victim to severe depression and nervous breakdown. He and his family members were afraid that he might commit suicide, so all sharp objects were kept away from him. He was so tired of his illness that he thought that I would dedicate myself to work so much that he had no free time to think. He devoted himself in the service of society and country and did so many great things in his lifetime, which made him one of the greatest personalities in the world and he became the President of America at the age of 52 and his name was ‘Abraham Lincoln’.

After acknowledging this story, if you ask people whether they would like to become president, chances are high that their answer will be ‘yes’, but if you ask them if they would like to take those troubles which Abraham Linclon suffered, such as the death of his mother and his girlfriend, business failures, repeated election losses, depression and nervous breakdown, then hardly anyone would say ‘yes’.

From this, we can come to a simple conclusion that people would agree to exchange your achievements and success with you but will not exchange your worries at all (especially when those worries are very big.)

    Useful Tips for stress management:

You should know that you are not the lone fellow in the world, who has worry, everyone who is alive in this world has some or the other concerns. If you study about great personalities, you will find that they continued to work despite having worries and stress and have eventually succeeded.

If a certain problem can be solved then give your 100% to solve it, if it cannot be solved then pray to God for that.

By studying the biographies of such personalities, you will find that such people who got life after facing huge struggles have a changed outlook towards it. They have found that how those serious problems in life are now looking small and, however, their life was a blessing, they considered it as a gift of God and never complained about the life’s problems again.

    Chapter - 2

    Harmful effects of stress

Whatever is going to happen will happen, whether we worry or not.

    — Ana Monnar

When the film of a famous film actress was completely flopped, a journalist wanted to know her reaction. She said that she had worked her best but the audience disliked the film. Then the journalist asked that despite working so hard and when the film gets flopped so badly, then you must have been very worried. To this, the actress replied that ‘we are happy when the film is successful and we believe that our hard work was successful but even when the films don’t work, even then I don’t get worried. In the film industry, your acting matters a lot but equally important is your beauty too. When you are worried then your face and your beauty also gets affected and it can have a bad effect on my career so I never get worried. The response of this film actress is truely an inspiration to all of us, therefore if we want to look good and charming then we should be worry free."

But in today’s time, stress has become a part of our life and in this worrysome lifestyle many such diseases and problems has come up which were not there in the earlier people. We also find that by remembering some sad moments of the past, over and over, makes a person sick and unable to progress in life. A great man has said that What you eat does not cause you so much trouble, but the stress which is eating us is the cause of major trouble. When some people brought their problems to a very wise person in the world, he gave a very wise answer, I am ready to take your problems in my own hands but not in my heart, lungs and other organs. (means he can try to solve the problem but he will not worry about it unnecessarily and not going to become sick).

Stress leads to diseases like insomnia, ulcers, heart disease, blood pressure, etc. Along with worrying, our ability to think and make decisions also gets lost and sometimes the situation comes to the point that people even commit suicide.

Since we have understood how serious problems can arise from stress, so we should avoid worrying at all cost, but before that let us find some common causes of stress in the next chapter.

    Useful Tips for stress management:

Are you suffering from any disease at this moment, if yes then find out whether it is due to some worry, you have.

Always ignore minor issues because they often become big and create unnecessary worry in our life.

    Chapter - 3

What stress did to me; what stress can do to you?

"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.

    — Albert Einstein

As I told you that there is no one in this world who does not have stress, I am also no exception to this. It’s a matter of yester years, I was going through a very bad phase of my life and at that time I was getting very worried, every day it seemed like a huge mountain to climb and I had no idea what would happen next.

As I said the stress was at peak I allowed it to dominate me and now let me share what this worry gave me. The first thing that I got, was sleepless nights, it used to be 2-3 o’clock in the night but I could hardly sleep, I started getting lots of hairfall and my hairs also turned grey, my digestion was disturbed, I did not feel hungry, nor did I feel like eating anything, I could not concentrate on my work, so I was also facing financial loss, and lots of things happened that I didn’t expect. For instance, I take great care of my teeth and have made a habit of brushing them twice i.e. in the morning and night. I had made this habit long ago but when I was worried for a long time, then 9 of my teeth got cavity and even situation came to get 3 of them removed. When I discussed this matter with my doctor, he asked me to find the root cause of my worry and eliminate that. Till now stress has only harmed your teeth, further it will affect you and your whole body. Therefore, as told by the doctor I did the same and to find the causes of worry and eliminated them, otherwise, it would have completely ruined me out.

So these were some things that worry gave me, if you are too worried for small things, then worry can give you similar or even bigger things.

If we start counting the problems caused by stress, then our count will start from minor diseases like headache, gas, etc. to major diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, heart disease, etc., which may be fatal.

There are thousands of reasons for stress, let’s take a look at some common causes of it:

Expectations from oneself or others that are not yet being met

Real or unrealistic comparisons with others that undermine confidence

    Envy to see someone progressing

    Desire to be like others

    Desire to change people

What people think and say about you

    Taking yourself too seriously

    Criticism or condemnation

    Work load

Desire to be appreciated by people or a particular person

Stress related to earning money or debt

Stress related to health or some disease

Willingness to reap without sowing (want success very fast, looking for shortcuts)

    Trapped into bad company forever

Irritability due to not being able to use one’s full potential

    Dilemma of making a decision

    Inability to adjust with reality

    Love affairs

    Differences in relationships

This list is very long but these are some common reasons due to which stress develops in our life. Research shows that with our wit and intelligence, we can eliminate about 90 percent of the stress-causing situations in our lives. If this research is correct, then it is a matter of great relief. And imagine that if 90 percent of our stress is over, then we will be so relaxed and relieved.

So stop blaming from today stress and take up responsibility because this is your life, not someone else’s. If we want to be happy, worry free, then it does not depend on anyone else but on us.

    Useful Tips for stress management:

Make a list of losses due to anxiety/stress.

Do you know any person who got ruined because of worry. If yes, then find out those reasons.

Take a paper and write down all the worries now you have. Then after that, take another paper and make two big circles on it, write under control; I can do something about it on the top of one circle and on the top of other circle It’s out of control; I can’t do anything about it.

Now divide your worries into these two circles i.e. put those worries about which you can do something in the first circle and in the second circle put those worries for which you can do nothing. When you do this you will be surprised to see how many such tasks were completely under your control on which you were worrying unnecessarily.

    Chapter - 4

You are the only person who can help yourself the most

Those who don’t learn to fight worry, die young.

    — Alexis Carrel

Once upon a time, a young man on a bridge, was about to commit suicide by jumping into the river, just then someone caught him by his clothes from behind and forcefully pulled him back, after that the young man fell on the ground. The man angrily asked the young man, What were you doing, is your mind alright? Hearing this, the young man burst into tears. He began blubbering and told how his business was ruined and he got completely bankrupt and also told that his wife also left him after becoming pauper.

The other man was listening very carefully to the young man’s words and when he strained his ears completely to the young man’s words he said, Look son, your problem is really serious and there is no doubt that you are completely broken but I can’t help you in this, but I know one person who can help you the most in this situation. Hearing this, a spark of hope came on the face of the young man and he took to the man’s feet. He fell down and said, Please take me to that person, I will be forever grateful to you. The man bowed down and picked up the young man and said, "Yeah okay I’ll introduce you to
