Every moment holds the potential for fresh beginnings, regardless of past experiences or setbacks. Have a clear goal or purpose in whatever you do. Your efforts become more focused and meaningful when you have a specific aim. It's like navigating a ship with a destination in mind; you're less likely to get lost or feel adrift.
The Stoics, with their emphasis on oiêsis or false conceptions, argue that directionless pursuits lead not only to internal turmoil but also to dysfunctional lives. Imagine a life without a cause or purpose; how do you decide what actions to take, what to prioritize, and when to say no or yes? The absence of defined goals leaves us adrift, unaware of when we've veered off course or achieved what we set out to do. If you're unclear about your objectives or have false beliefs about the nature of your actions, it can lead to frustration, confusion, or even a sense of madness.
