About this ebook

Juan Alberto Salazar raised his glass of whiskey and gulped it down. The taste of the whiskey was hot in his throat, and it felt good as his head began to buzz slightly.
"Ah yes! That is what I am talking about! This is good stuff, gentlemen. You should try some. Oh, I forgot, it's too expensive for you."
The men around him said nothing to parry his snide remark. They had worked closely with Salazar all this time, and were used to such remarks from El Patron. They took it in stride, simply because they had no choice. Salazar was the one paying them, and as long as that was the case, his word was the law.

    PROLOGUE

    Expensive Moonshine.

Juan Alberto Salazar raised his glass of whiskey and gulped it down. The taste of the whiskey was hot in his throat, and it felt good as his head began to buzz slightly.

Ah yes! That is what I am talking about! This is good stuff, gentlemen. You should try some. Oh, I forgot, it's too expensive for you.

The men around him said nothing to parry his snide remark. They had worked closely with Salazar all this time, and were used to such remarks from El Patron. They took it in stride, simply because they had no choice. Salazar was the one paying them, and as long as that was the case, his word was the law.

Salazar chuckled, and the men did not.

Well, never mind. You go ahead and drink to your hearts' content. Tonight, I'm in a generous mood, and the drinks are on me. This should show you all that El Jefe is not as ruthless as many may think. I may be ruthless indeed, but I know how to reward good and faithful service.

The three men around him all raised their glasses and drank the whiskey in unison. Salazar was not kidding. The expensive moonshine was definitely powerful stuff, and they all immediately felt light-headed.

You will be competing in the contest tomorrow, jefe? You think it's a good idea to drink like this?

It was Santos who expressed his concern to El Jefe. Santos, like the two other men around Salazar were his loyal bodyguards who accompanied him everywhere he went. The three men had saved Salazar more than once, and were his closest circle of companions in the whole town of San Pedro. They were missing a fourth man, someone much younger than them, but someone who
