PROLOGUE
Straight to Hell
Alex Vargas barked orders at his men, desperately. His hold on the mining town of Pickaxe was now under siege, and there seemed to be nothing he could do about it.
Shoot him! Shoot him down, already! I can't believe you can't take down one man!
We're trying, Jefe! We're trying, but the man is not a man! He fights like a demon from hell!
He's not a demon, but the devil himself!
Vargas could not contain his rage, and slapped one of his thugs in pure rage and frustration. His men were fighting, terrified, and were not thinking straight anymore. Perhaps he could not blame them. After all, this mystery man had definitely burned his establishments to the ground. The man had set Vargas' large mansion ablaze, for all the residents of Pickaxe to see. Considering that Vargas' property was located right in the middle of town, it was like lighting a huge torch that no one could possibly miss. It was both a terrible disaster for Vargas, and a statement of sorts that he was definitely going down.
Shut up and fight! He is but one man, and we are still many! He clouds your minds with senseless ideas, making you fear him! Do not let him get to your heads!
Vargas' men tried to fight on, as best as they could. Still, even Vargas himself knew that it was a losing battle now. He had always ruled his men with an iron hand. He had always led them, and they followed him, on the basis of pure fear. Vargas' men were just like the town he had put up. They had always feared him, and it was this fear that made them fight for him. In a way, he had set himself up as something so great, that he had to be feared. However, how could his men continue to fight for him, when they now feared something else?
The men tried to fight on. They really did, but it was next to impossible now. Vargas was right. The mystery man had gotten to their heads now, and there was no way to turn it around.
He is not one man, jefe! He is more than a man. He is the Masked Terror!
Vargas had long heard stories about this Masked Terror. The stories of the man who wore death on his face. The man who brought justice and death everywhere he went.
Several stories abounded about the Masked Terror. The stories described something that was more of a force of nature than a man, a storm that was often fortunately on the side of good. They told of a man who rode where there was any injustice and righted the wrongs any way he could. The stories told of a man who left a long trail of bodies and blood wherever he went. Now, the Masked Terror had rode into Vargas' town and was gunning for Arturo
