    INTRODUCTION

The Power and Influence of Self-Talk

I know you’ve probably wondered this, too, but recently, I’ve been considering the internal monologues we all carry on. Yes, I refer to the internal monologue that each of us has going on all the time. When you consider how significant an impact technology has on our daily lives, it’s mind-boggling.

Think about it, I mean. Has the thought I can’t do this or Why am I always messing up? ever crossed your mind? It might also be something like, I absolutely aced that presentation! or I feel invincible today. An example of positive self-talk! And believe me, it packs a punch.

In fact, I now see how our internal dialogue might serve as a kind of silent director in the film that is our life. It quietly influences how we behave, what we think, and how we feel about ourselves. It’s not just a passing remark; it’s crucial to the plot of our story.

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?

Has the word Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ever left you scratching your head and wondering, What the heck is that? I get it; it’s because the name sounds scientific. Trust me, though; CBT (yup, that’s the short version) is fascinating once you get the hang of it.

Alright, let’s dissect it a bit. The very title provides useful information. The term cognitive refers to mental processes and concepts. You know, the constant chatter that goes on within our heads? The term
