I believe that the concept of self-made is a false concept. Nobody can accomplish any dream, desire, or life goal without the love and support of others. We need others to walk with us on our journey to the peak of the mountain. The love and support I have received has made my journey of believing, changing, and becoming a beautiful one for me. My dream of living the life that I live now, and the completion of this book, would not be possible without my source, God. I am full of gratitude. Next, I want to share my appreciation of my husband, Carlos Salmeron, my son Julian, and my daughter Miranda. Carlos, you have been my rock and my biggest cheerleader and supporter. You have always believed in me, and I could not have completed this journey without you. I love you deeply and I would do this all over again with you by my side. Julian, you are my true champion. Thank you for always reminding me that there is dark and light within all of us. Your realness and honesty are what makes me understand that beauty is also found in the rawness and in the dark. Miranda, you are my beaming light. You are a wise soul who chose me to be your mother. What an honor! You inspire me to dream big and go after all my goals. I hope that I inspire you to do the same. To my parents, Eloisa and Fernando Martinez, thank you for being supportive and proud of me. Your support fueled me to keep on pushing forward. To my siblings, Araceli, Jose Manuel, Luis Fernando, and Yesenia, you don’t know how much I thought about you during this writing process. Araceli, you always motivate me to not forget where I came from and to keep it real. I appreciate it. Jose Manuel, you show me how to flow in life. Thank you for that. Luis Fernando, your humor and peace with life always inspires me to find joy. Thank you, little brother. Yesenia, your ability to let things go and support me when I ask is priceless. Thank you, little sister. Gracias familia!

To Debbie Miller, my guru, my amiga, the best editor a writer could have—I adore you and appreciate that you have guided my writing so carefully and beautifully for many years now. We were meant to do this together; we had a pact. Thank you for showing up. I could not have done this without you. To my friends, who have become family: Rocio Flores, thank you for being proud of me and believing in me since high school. Jorge Fernandez, I believe you were the first person I told that I was writing another book. Thank you for your excitement, support, and guidance. I feel the love, amigo. Thomas Kortlang, thank you for being so supportive, always sharing my posts on social media and believing in me. Te adoro Tom! Thank you, Dina Brambila. You are a beautiful woman who sees my soul and reminds me that I am amazing. I am a reflection of you. Victoria Carrera and Silvia Garcia my soul sisters. Gracias for showing up in my life. Mari Alluy, thank you for your true and honest friendship and support. Lupita Castillo, thank you for inspiring me with your light. Alfonso G. Perez, thank you for your friendship and wise words. Daena Fierro, thank you for always supporting my work and being excited for this book. Gladis Macias and Norma Villegas, my biggest supporters and great friends, thank you for all you do for me and the women in the Facebook groups. Leah Abraham, I love your soul. Thank you for being a devoted cheerleader and for seeing the potential in my work. I love you all. Gracias, gracias, gracias!

    Introduction

Five years ago, I wrote my first book, Believe. Change. Become: Remembering Who You Were Destined to Be. After deep soul-searching, I decided to commit to writing another book.

The purpose of this book is to share with you what my ongoing journey of believing, changing, and becoming can teach you about your desires, dreams, goals, and, most importantly, your life. I want to share with you that if you desire to create a beautiful life, you need to choose beautiful thoughts, beliefs, words, and actions. I want to continue to inspire you to believe in your dreams and to pursue your purpose. But I also want to remind you that everything you seek to become, you already are; nothing outside of you will bring you joy if joy is not within you. You are beautiful, perfect, whole, and complete. Personal growth is about soul connection. Growth only happens when you realize that you suffer because you have forgotten who you are and why you are here.

In this book, I will acknowledge that life is challenging, but when you are open to learn the lessons life brings to you, life becomes beautiful again. Life is always whispering in your ear to go with the current and never against it. I will share with you that to enjoy the journey of life, you must savor and embrace the valleys as well as the peaks of life, because beauty is also in the valleys. Yes, in this book I will teach you how to persevere in the grueling climb to the peak of your mountain, but I will also remind you that life is about more than reaching the peak; it is also about staying present and loving the journey. The universe, your source, your God always has your back. I want to help you overcome the challenges of your life, accomplish all your dreams and goals, and love the journey of life as you believe, change, and become.

In the last five years, I experienced several types of losses and lessons, but always stumbled upon joy. To live through the pandemic, I had to let go of certainty and embrace the unknown. To continue the journey of believing, changing, and becoming, I had to remember who I am and why I am here. I had to remember that I had to be unapologetic about what was right for me. I learned that it is OK to say no to things that did not align with my desires, dreams, or goals. Being the designer of your life can be a lonely and uncertain journey, but if you trust your inner voice, follow your intuition, and surrender to the universe and let it guide you, you will get to your destination.

For five years, my passion of reminding others of their purpose took the forms of personal coaching, group presentations, podcasts, blogs, and educational programs, especially for mothers, as well as my own continued personal growth. Now I am ready to share with you additional lessons I have learned that can help you have a more satisfying and fulfilling life.

    Meaning, Fulfillment, and Success

What comes to your mind when you think about life? Perhaps you wonder about the meaning of life or how to define success in life. The meaning of life is not happiness. You are alive now to be reminded about who you are and what you are made of. It is up to you to make your life good or bad; you make it good or bad by what you believe about yourself and about the world. You exist on this planet to enjoy the simple joys of life but also to persevere during the lows and hardships of life. When you understand that you are a strong, wise, persevering human being, you become connected to your true essence. You know how to overcome the challenges of life. You may be tempted to try and control life. I want to encourage you to always go with the flow of life. Apply change to the things you can change but surrender to what you cannot change. Trust that life may have a better plan for you that will make you strong and help you soar.

It is my belief that those who question the meaning of life are trying to understand what their purpose is; they want to know why they exist. Those who have these questions about their existence are seeking a meaningful, fulfilling life. Unfortunately, meaning and fulfillment are not easily defined. Some are also seeking success. Success is also hard to define as there are many different opinions about what success is. The only person who can define your success is you. Success for some is having a distinguished career, wealth, and the respect and admiration of others. Success for others may be having meaningful, strong relationships, being active and healthy, and making a difference in other people’s lives.

A meaningful life is a broad construct having to do with the purpose, significance, fulfillment, and satisfaction of life. A meaningful life can include strong relationships with friends and family. Enjoying your job or living your purpose can contribute to a fulfilled life. Being healthy in body, mind, and spirit can bring satisfaction to your life. Fulfillment in life can be having a peaceful and calming home. Trust that the universe is a friendly place and understand that the universe will help you find meaning and fulfillment.

Happiness is overrated and hard to maintain, but joy can be found in the present moment in the simple pleasures of life. It is important that we do not confuse joy with success. You can be joyful drinking your favorite cup of coffee, and that is in no way connected to success. Happiness should never be the goal of
