Love's a River

Love starts its life in the same way

A river does, so people say

Each thought is like a tiny drop

And starts a flow that cannot stop

A flow that sparkles clean and bright

Reflecting love like rays of light

This stream of love moves fast, then slow

As though not sure of where to go

It rushes down the falls and slopes

Then calms in pools to build its hopes

And as its strength begins to grow

There is a calmness in its flow

The stream that was so fancy free

Has lost all its uncertainty

Serene and calm and so mature

It's now a river deep and sure

And all the streams that made it grow

Are now part of its mighty flow

And like the drops that formed the start

Our loving thoughts each play a part

In building love that's like a stream

That started out just like a dream

And in the end will reach the sea

Just as I know you'll come to me

Love's a river, love's a river

Only we can make it flow

Only we can make it grow

Imagine if you can, a chain

That sets us free to live again

A chain of love that glows so bright

Protecting us with all its might

From fear and pain, loss and despair

A chain of love, goodwill and care

We are the links that make this chain

So strong that it can take the strain

Of holding back all fear and doubt

And keeping want and trouble out

What makes this chain so strong and sure

Is that each link has love that's pure

And though we must assure its strength

We also must increase its length

The whole world needs to try and show

How much this mighty chain can grow

To make this chain there's one sure
