    Pre-destination - Elizabeth James-Akpojosevbe

    PRE-DESTINATION

This is a very controversial and difficult Subject on which I have been pondering and studying for a while. As much as many people do not want to touch and discuss it, I believe strongly that the Holy Bible has the answer to any question that could arise from this very difficult question.

What does Pre-Destination mean? Predestination comes from the Latin word Praedestinatio meaning to appoint beforehand or to be foreordained by divine decree or purpose. Does the Bible teach predestination? Has the course of each person’s life already been decided? Has God decided the fate of all men in advance? What about Free Moral Agency?

Why was man created? Does GOD have a plan for every human being? If so, what is it?

Who is or has been predestined?

If the "Elect has been predestined, can anyone lose his/her predestined Status?

    Fulfilling and accomplishing Destiny.

What is the ultimate for mankind?

The Beginning and The End- Each person determines where to spend his/ her Eternity.

    PREAMBLE

Predestination is a subject that has generated a lot of responses with different views and opinions. But does it have to be so? The Bible is clear on the issue. All that needs to be done is to search the scriptures with the help of the Holy Spirit who knows all Truth and indwells Christians. Christ Our Lord stated in John 16: 13 -14:

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak of His own authority, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is mine and declare it to you. (NKJV)

To this end this Book will explore from the very beginning, what God has to say about predestination so all humans can get the proper perspective of the Word.

    CHAPTER 1

In the Book of Genesis 1: 26, The GOD- HEAD said:

Let us make man in Our image, according to our likeness, let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air and over the cattle, over all the Earth and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.

God gave dominion to man to rule and reign on earth over all that He created. Man was destined to be a ruler on earth. The only thing God demanded from man was to obey Him. Unfortunately, man disobeyed through Adam and Eve as recorded in Genesis 3: 1-6.

The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the LORD GOD had made. One day he said to the woman, ‘Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?’ of course, we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, the woman replied. It is only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said you must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die You won’t die the serpent replied to the woman. ‘God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful, and its fruit looked delicious and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So, she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her and he ate it too". (NLT)

    Also, in the same chapter, Verse14-16 God said to the serpent;

‘‘Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all animals, domestic and wild. You will crawl on your belly, groveling in the dust as long as you live. And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head and you will strike his heel’. Then He said to the woman, ‘I will sharpen the pains of your pregnancy, and in pain you will give birth. And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you’’.

It is interesting to note that after the curse, God sent Adam and Eve out of the garden so that they will not eat from the Tree of Life and live forever separated from Him. Genesis 3:22. Then the Lord God said:

Behold the man has become like one of us, to know good from evil. And now lest he put out his hand and take also of the Tree of Life and live forever.

But then, the plan of salvation was already put in place." This is further explained in Isaiah 53: 10-11, speaking of the Savior JESUS.

Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You made His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand. He shall see the labor of His soul and be satisfied. By His knowledge, my righteous Servant shall justify many. (NKJV)

This was buttressed in Revelation 13:8b –

the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

So, the plan of God for man to live forever in eternity is still in place. Yes, God knew man would sin but His great love desired man to have eternal life. Man was created to live forever and to have a relationship with God. Rev.4:11 says:

You are worthy O Lord to receive glory, honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will, they exist and were created

and in Philippians 2:13, the Bible reads:

For it is God who works in you, both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

However, man failed God again. Further In Genesis 7: 1-23, the Lord said to Noah:

Come into the Ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation. You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and a female; also seven each of the birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth. After seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.

It is recorded that God wiped out all earthly creation including the human beings due to sin except Noah and his family who was He left to continue the human race. God does not change, even though the majority of humans were wiped out, He kept a remnant of the human race. God’s
